Hi All,
I used the FOS website to bring a complaint about FS in early April and shortly after I got a letter from FOS with the case number saying that I would hear from the FOS investigator within 12 weeks.
However it has been 23 weeks and I have heard nothing. I have rung FOS a few times to say ' hey don't forget me....' and they just say we deal with every case strictly in turn.. and we're busy.
Has anybody else got a complaint with FOS? And can you share how long it took to get picked up??
I know of a few others with complaints queued at FOS after a long time, and we wonder whether there's a deluge of complaints about P2P at FOS causing massive backlog, or whether they are hunkering down while they get training on P2P / guidance on P2P issues from FCA as it starts to dawn on them the massive scale of consumer detriment....
Thanks for sharing if you can, W

Hi wuzimu, I have some experience of dealing with the FOS, including complaints relating to P2P. It can typically take more that a year before much happens, so please hang in there - the issues with PPI have slowed things down considerably too.

Just for information, once a complaint has been decided by the FOS, the final outcome is made public via the FOS decisions register - where anybody can see details of the complaint (but not the identity of the complainant). There is usually a delay before decisions are published, but in due course the register should make for very interesting reading, as all complaints where a decision is made - whether upheld or not - will be listed online...

Is it all complaints, or - as I understood it - just those where the decision is challenged (by any party) and then a final 'determination' is made that get published? (And even then only if the FOS don't have a reason not to publish.)

Hi iRobot , to clarify - it is my understanding that all cases where an ombudsman's decision has been made (i.e. a final decision or determination) are published online under the ombudsman decisions section of the FOS website. So you are technically correct - as for an ombudsman to be required to make a decision for a specific complaint a challenge to an earlier decision by an adjudicator or investigator will [likely] have been made. The ombudsman's decision is final. I am not aware of any ombudsman decisions not being published.
