I have a horrid feeling that might include a number of forumites. Did anyone spot the revelation at the time? I'm not certain but it may have related to this FOI request which in itself is quite interesting - From their FOI disclosure log: September 2019
FCA Complaints The FCA's Freedom of Information: right to know response FOI6281 dated 27th March 2019 states: 1. In 2018, 688 complaints were received 2. In 2019, 311 complaints were received Please provide the latest year to date figures for 2019 as well as a breakdown of 2018 and 2019 figures using the categories the FCA uses to classify the complaints received about itself.September 2019 FOI6618FOI6618 tablesI liked this bit in the response document - wonder who that was

Further to the data breach noted above by star dustThere is an article by Adam Williams in the T'Graph mentioning that LC&F investors say they have been contacted by scammers. I have spoken to the FCA and Adam. The FCA will be contacting you directly if your data has been severely compromised, the data commissioner may insist that we are all contacted. So far I have not heard anything from anybody who has complained to the FCA about Col but I would be very interested if anybody has had suspicious calls/emails. I suggest PM is the appropriate method. That said this post is a warning, keep on your toes if you have complained. (note I have no proof that scammers have seen/used this data but we need to be aware)

If you think you may been affected by this you can also make a complaint to both the FCA (yes ironic) and the Information Complaints Commissioner here - ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/This might be helpful longer term if you suffer any harm and want to claim compensation.

I just phoned the number provided on the FCA's statement about the data breach issue. They were able to tell me that I am one of the persons affected.

At least you will think twice when someone from the FCA rings up advising that your complaint can only be investigated further after you have remitted the requisite fee to a bank account in the Virgin Islands.

I sent them an email around 1630. They got back to me at 1754 saying that they will respond as soon as possible. At least they are working late.

Did you also get the " You may have seen the statement we put out on 25 February regarding a recent data breach at the FCA. As someone who has previously used the FCA Complaints Scheme, we would like to speak with you regarding this matter and to provide further information and reassurance..." email? Hi, No, I didn't receive that email. The first I heard of the breach was on this forum.
Regards, Tim

I emailed them to ask if I was affected. From what I can tell, my name and the status of my complaint (deferred) was accessible but nothing else.

I emailed them too. A reply just received containing the following:
"Your complaint has been identified as among those included in the spreadsheet.
The information was included in a spreadsheet and it was not immediately obvious to anyone viewing the contents. The information was hidden from plain view behind the summary table.
Whilst we have no indications at present that your data has been seen by anyone (other than the person who reported it to us), we are not able to guarantee this.
The data about your complaint was:
NAME: “Tree Man”
CONTENT: “Deferred - 3.7 (see Parent case)”
The following was not included:
• Any of your financial information, such as financial data or payment card details • Any of your identification data (e.g. date of birth or passport number, contact details or address) • Any details from other complaints or contacts you may have had with the FCA • Any information about you, other than that listed above"
