Worth adding a small bit of clarification - the data breach was limited to the forum on the .net domain, not the p2p platform on the .com domain.
Doesn't excuse the poor comms from TC at the time they took the forum down though as no doubt there will be some that used the same password on both domains.

I don't even remember the email address I used for this login years ago, it doesn't show on my automatic login details.

I don't even remember the email address I used for this login years ago, it doesn't show on my automatic login details. Fortunatley I used a unique email address for it. So I'll know exactly who's to blame once I start getting the inevitable personalised phishing emails. Unfortunately its been an ongoing issue for some years, i remember getting suspect emails from an address i only had with lendy.

I've just had an email claiming to be from P1 Capital Partners "a boutique asset-management group focusing on investments secured on UK property via asset backed secured Bonds, delivering fixed rate returns of up to 10% per annum", sent to the same email address I used for the VIP forum. This is not the only place that email address was used, but I didn't use it widely. However "You are receiving this email because you opted in via our website." - I am pretty certain I did not.

Yes, I had one too, and my email address was only ever used for L/SS, and I never went to their website before either.

Ditto (though I use the same email address for everything).
Probably worth all ThinCats lenders who receive this attempting to report it via ico ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ mentioning 'it may be in connection with the data breach reported by Business Loan Network Ltd (trading as ThinCats) on 16th March 2020'
On the ico form, if you select 'It made me annoyed ...' then 'Something else' there is a box to enter comments.

Seems to be Lendy related as it has been received on Lendy exclusive email addresses

I also got this, so it can't be Thincats.

I did use the same email for Lendy. Was there a Lendy data breach (I was lucky enough to exit before the collapse so I haven't followed closely)?

For those of you who have had the grave misfortune of ever having the miserable opportunity to deal with the company known as Thincats: Notified in January, customers kept in the dark as mushrooms until mid-March. Typical Thincats. Plus ça change, plus c'est la meme chose ! Actually they noticed "odd behaviour" in January, when they ut down, but only established the breach a couple of days before they told us (at least that's what they said to me). 1and1 was the host. NOT same host as main site Where I think they are culpable 1 They should force us to change pw on main site and at a guess, 2, they should have done better upkeep (wordpress security updates) on forum and 3 they should but never will have a frozen forum archive, as if

My point about the main site being hosted elsewhere is that it's a comfort.

I thought of changing my main site password, but I'm not sure there is ever going to be any money to steal

I thought of changing my main site password, but I'm not sure there is ever going to be any money to steal Plenty of other stuff for "them" to look at. Change it anyway. Change it to something you will definitely forget. It will help with the pain.

Well I did, and lo and behold there was a few pence from a TLC, like finding money down the back of the couch
