I started an ISA transfer ages ago. Eventually I had an email from Zopa 1 week ago saying that the bank I am transferring to insists on a cheque for transfer and not electronic. Zopa are now saying that they are not allowed to send a cheque owing to coronavirus. Are Coventry building society being unreasonable insisting on a cheque?

May be a double IFISA transfer. AJ Bell doesn't require check.

Had the same problem a few years ago with Nationwide receiving cash from Abundance. Nationwide did eventually provide details for an electronic transfer which they promptly lost for a while. I would say in the current age anyone not accepting electronic transfers is acting unreasonably. I am not aware of any reason in ISA rules requiring funds to be transferred by cheque.

I had a similar problem recently where both providers AC (electronic only) and Yorkshire BS (cheque only) could not agree and I had to find another ISA. Crazy.

Crazy. oh dear. think inexcusable. can see how that might happen with yorkshire - I have used Kent reliance - they use a main bank for their banking as they are too small for such... but Coventry? So when I can cope with chasing down phone services in this current context of endless chasing down of sandwich generation duties, I'll see what I can find out.
