According to 4th Way "The vast majority of peer-to-peer investors will continue to profit through the crisis"... "because of sensible underwriting standards, solid security, provision funds set aside to cover bad debts..." "This is the time when the P2P lending industry will prove that direct money lending is a very solid investment.." www.p2pfinancenews.co.uk/2020/04/02/most-p2p-investors-will-continue-to-profit-through-the-crisis/Just wondered how many people believe this guff. Hence the poll.

might be true or maybe not and i would hope it does not play a part but they do earn a commission according to their reviews page so assume they will be positive on the whole

I've not voted because I'd be looking for something between "hold its own" and "terribly". Taken as a whole, I expect P2P to suffer - there will be losses here and there, and loss of reputation in some parts, but I'm not expecting armageddon.
Or is that just me being over-optimistic?

Seems pretty clear that some platforms are struggling to survive and are unlikely to be here this time next year. The ones that do emerge on the other side of this might end up doing rather well out of it all eventually. Not sure how that leaves the overall picture, its clearly very dependent on which platforms you are in.

This is irrelevant. How do we know Corona will not last 6 months or longer ? In which case things could change dramatically.

This is irrelevant. How do we know Corona will not last 6 months or longer ? In which case things could change dramatically. It's not a question of "how long Corona will last", because it's here to stay. Until we get widespread accurate antibody testing and / or a vaccine that's proven to work it's a question of how we evolve, socially and economically to cope with it.

IIRC 'Spanish flu' killed c. 50m 100 years ago, and flu is still around but killing far fewer, and not noticeably affecting how society functions (although we do have vaccination, of various levels of effectiveness). We shall have to see how we are all behaving in a year or two's time.

I'd exit if I could.
Most loans are from people not able to secure loan on bank. They usually have difficulty to get finance and with this crisis it'll be even harder to get any good rate refinance.
And on top of that they have no income coming in because they have to stay home.
