I am nowhere near informed enough to have an opinion on the randomness of Premium Bonds, but I do recall an in-depth technical article on the subject which I read a few years back. This particular article expounded that TRUE randomness via electronic means is an impossibility, due to the inherent limitations of the electronics employed. Or somesuch. I know I will be corrected, but it's not my opinion, just what I remember reading. As an anecdote, I have random (or "shuffle") on my Juke Box and I am always surprised that in amongst the "random" selections (from about 2,000 songs) there are the same two or three that inevitably feature within the first hour or two of playing nearly every time I select "Shufflle." I am not The Red Baron, you can shoot me down. As you say, Oz, achieving true randomness is challenging, and far beyond the 'random' number generator offered by your average computer's operating system. For ERNIE, I read years ago that the best they'd come up with was to sample background noise at a very fine level, since that analogue signal was the most random seed they could establish. I haven't researched whether they still use that same input, but I found it fascinating.

Yet there are plenty of people around who believe that if you win big this month it reduces the likelihood of you winning next month. yes, well the population is not as smart as one would like umfortunately. Esp. when it comes to the UK and fundamentals of e.g. maths: with the UK being ranked barely in the top 20 in the2018 PISA ranking. There a plenty of people that think that 5G is causing Covid; that its a govt. hoax; that vaccinations will put microchips into your body; that boiling a kettle with more water than you need doesn't waste energy because it will take less time to boil next time; that injecting bleach might cure Covid; that offering their "hopes and prayers" will solve mass shootings. The fact that they 'believe' these things don't make them true. The fact that people play the lottery believing they actually have a chance of winning the jackpot is the ultimate proof. "It could be you" is probably the most misleading advertising of all time. As I always tell people, it is not possible for you to win the lottery jackpot in any meaningful use of the word possible.

All that esoteric randomising technology out there, and the Lotto, with its higher prizes at stake, uses ping-pong balls in an air tube.

They have changed the format of the site so you wont associate with previous performance. £75 for me this month
The trend is down .

Yes, the new site is appalling. Looks like a gift card, with tat and clutter all over the screen. Straight from the kindergarten school of graphics. I expect some design house got a massive wedge for creating it though. You can't even tell which month your latest prize relates to. Lots of pretty parcels adorning the screen though, so that's ok.

No mention of November's prizes in my account but the "prize checker" says I won 2 x £25. Any idea what the brilliantly designed and magnificently drawn red line graphic is supposed to represent?

How do I know whether I can afford to get pissed tomorrow before the pubs close?
Edit: for those living in the South East, £50 is plenty for somebody in the SW to get well liberated on, as opposed to NE where a family of 4 could get blotto on a similar amount.

I really hate the new site. On the old one I could type in the first letter of my holder number, and my browser would auto-fill-in the rest now I have to hand type the whole thing every time
2x25

View AttachmentI’ve just clicked the log in page & saved that in my favourites so I by-pass the new start page. The log in page is the same as what I had saved before
