Taken PBonds up to maximum and moving lots into Coventry Bonds. At the end of the day it is a nice problem to have, but even so I feel a bit let down. Website far better than the old thing, nice to see a bit of design going into the product.

Just a reminder. NS&I Income Bonds down to 0.01% today. And it was surprisingly quick & easy to transfer my entire wedge out today. Thanks NS&I! (Marcus Bank, for the time being, if you must know. )

( Marcus Bank, for the time being, if you must know. ) I've got just over £20k due from an N, S & I fixed term bond in a couple of weeks time. Still undecided whether to put it in a savings acount, or open a Vanguard Lifestrategy account.

Online. It's the ONLY game in town. (Totally aware that not everybody uses or has access to online.)

Online. It's the ONLY game in town. (Totally aware that not everybody uses or has access to online.) I'm guessing most reading here do, but yes it truly is the best option. I was able to move swiftly on to Amazon (other retailers available) to order my pipe and slippers after finally succumbing to the premium bond club. Ah I was once so edgy and cool, how the mighty have meekly surrendered to reality.

No mention of November's prizes in my account but the "prize checker" says I won 2 x £25. Any idea what the brilliantly designed and magnificently drawn red line graphic is supposed to represent? View Attachment"Brilliantly", "magnificently" and, no doubt, expensively.

It would be interesting to know how much cash has been withdrawn from NS&I income bonds etc this week, following the brutal cut in rates.
Anyone working for NS&I who is on this forum ?
Sadly, when the Gov needs cash the most, we are all pulling it out.
Had they just reduced it to around 0.5 - 0.75% they would have kept a lot of it methinks

There are people still using the phone to do transactions? You'll be telling me next people still need to go to a bank to pay in cheques.

Original annual target was £6B, Govt. revised that upwards to £35B, by Sept they had surpassed that, so rates cut.
NB Any Govt. or NS&I employee divulging information in a public forum would get in serious trouble.

For very large holdings, over the FSCS limit, the security is more important.

The saddest and most frightening aspect of this decision is the clear indication (yet again) of the level of business/commercial acumen possessed by those in Government & Quasi-Government. There isn't any, they don't have a clue, most have never worked in the private sector. The experiment failed in the USA, but I often wonder how we'd fare with Alan Sugar as PM? (Or anyone of similar ilk) 'twould be interesting, wouldn't it?

I co-founded a large investment firm, working with companies from Silicon Valley to Bangalore. Then I used that experience to help small and entrepreneurial British companies grow successfully. From working in my mum’s tiny chemist shop to my experience building large businesses, I have seen first-hand how politicians should support free enterprise and innovation to ensure our future prosperity.
