There is an Nsandi premium bond app you can install on your phone. You can use it to easily check your last 6 months wins. As an aside I have some of my national savings index linked certificates maturing this month. Am curious to know if others are keeping them? I roll mine over. The savings certificates and (premium bonds) help offset higher risk elements of my portfolio and with the index linking, you can't loose. One of my better decisions has been to hang on to these and NSI fixed-interest certificates. Never spectacular but safe, and I've more money invested in them than in VCTs. And tax-free, so something less to include in one's tax return
Turning back to Premium Bonds, the back page of today's Daily Telegraph's "Money" offers advice from two "financial planners" to a 91-year-old lady with about £250,000 to invest after selling her flat. One planner advises that she puts £50,000 into Premium Bonds where prizes equate to an annual rate of 1.4%. The planner acknowledges there's no guarantee that the lady will achieve this rate but points out that it's better than any one-year fixed rate. (The other planner advises that she buys back into property.)

Big, big bumper month for me! Every now and then I get an email from NS&I announcing good news about my Premium Bonds but I don't make a point of seeing how good the news is. Just glanced at my on-line statement, and it's been good news twice over: £25 and £500, which suggests a good return on my maximum holding in just one month alone. Over 50+ years (or for however long Ernie has been operating), I've had a £1,000 win and lots of smaller ones.
There was an article in the weekend press to the effect that better-off people have surplus funds from their income because there's not much for them to spend money on at the moment. The last three months I've only been paying out for day-to-day necessaries. Guess it's a good time to wonder which charities to support - there are plenty at the moment who are short of funds.

RSPC Lottery.
I have the maximum 3 tickets a month. I was giving to them anyway, so I figured, why not do it this way.

I've mandated my prizes to be paid direct to my bank although the "wonderful" NS&I site is giving me mixed messages as to whether my instructions have been effected. Is there a specific date that I can expect to see my 2x£25 in my account if my instructions have been actioned?

Cor dear, I know this isn't news, but cash savings rates really are absolutely plummetingNS&I truly dominating now with income bonds at 1.16%, with the best 1 year fix not matching it (1.05%) and even the best 2 year fix only matching it (1.16%). It was only a couple of months ago I was bemoaning 1.6% for a 1 year fix!

That would take some beating, although I think once, a long time ago, someone won the 1mill and only had a few pounds worth of bonds.

As they bought in May it should have been their first draw (unless it was bought by reinvesting winnings which would be even more jammy )

Logged on and...........................................................£25x2. Don't know whether to laugh or cry
