Got redirected to this (what appears to be a fishing site) today. My isp is indeed vodafone. A proboards foobah? Could be serious though if someone went through with it.  |

Doing a strict search on "marketwatchhm" returned the following, so seems likely that it's phishing (is 'Congratulations' ever used in French?):  If you think it's a ProBoards foobah, use the Report Abuse / Ad link(s) at the foot of each forum page. |

I had something pretty much identical purporting to be Virgin, fortunately after a moment of hesitation I decided it was too good to be true. This was a few weeks ago, I don't remember how I tripped over it but I don't think it was anything to do with proboards, possibly a false virgin link.

I have had almost identical "offers" from BT, twice in the last week or so. Not sure what I was browsing at the time but obviously the same scam.

I've visited the Proboards support page and others are reporting the same sort of thing, so I've posted there saying we're getting the same issues.
One comment I notice there, but I don't know how correct it is, that if we use the back button to return to the forum that automatically reports the bad ad. I'll correct this last statement if it is wrong.

- desktop or mobile
- what browser Firefox, Chrome etc.
- also what location (i.e.country) you are in OR if your on a VPN what location (i.e.country) that you're presenting when you received the ad.
Another type of bad ad that seems to be around at the moment was described as, "redirecting me to a fake "update Flash Player" "

I had the same "you've won a BT competition blah" one yesterday. Desktop PC and Chrome.
If you get a telecoms provider related one it's likely down to something in the malware ad picking up your IP address and comparing it with known ranges operated by the different telcos.

Malware hosted by proboards. Just for "fun" I clicked through to see where it would take me. Entered up on several sites that looked reasonably legitimate asking me to enter my credit card details to pay £1 for my "prize" iphone . I wonder how many CCs they harvest and what they do with them. Regarding the latter, I don't plan to find out !

In my case it was desktop Chrome in the UK. (Note that you'll see this post as not in the UK but my previous post in this thread was the UK)
