I've been trying to sell some AA holdings for up to 2.5% below par for a few days now, but no takers at all.
I'm aware that lenders may be willing to buy into AA for a lower discount in the future as the marketplace settles, but for the last couple of days the buy/sell price seems to have settled at approximately 6% below par.
Therefore, considering it might be impossible to get out without selling at perhaps a 5 or 5.5% discount for a while to come, isn't this is a fairly substantial haircut for us to take?
I appreciate it may sound churlish to say that when the economy has taken a massive hit with the pandemic, but such a haircut is on top of a raft of other negatives from AC such as their new fees, the substantial reduction in the interest rates on AA etc.
Also, what impact do you think the new AA marketplace have on lenders being able to get their money back through the exit route over the last few months i.e. redemptions on loans?
I'd be keen to read your thoughts.

I'd be keen to read your thoughts. It is what it is, seems pretty much par for the course to me if you'll forgive the expression. The desperate exited immediately at circa 10% and now we're at the graceful exit stage. Whether the discount level plateaus from here or goes up/down depends on the success with which Assetz operate their business and the economy at large. I could well imagine if they process a few large repayments and there's no new adverse information then we could see discounts at 2.5%-3%. Though, it's certainly not inconceivable that some unwelcome defaults, changes/clarification in QAA policy, or any other factor might see discounts turn the other way. Also possible that a massive whale of an investor is gradually selling out at circa 5% and will keep levels there or thereabouts. Lots of things going on. Anyway, 5-6% seems a pretty fair reflection to me. Bit mean for me to consider buying, bit rich to sell. About right. IMV.

p2pfan I see your point. I wouldn't say that we have "lost" anything as yet but assuming it is only possible to cash it at no less than a 6% discount, it would be fair to say that the current value of our holdings is ~6% less than what we paid for it. I guess that's no different from shares which are currently depressed (compared to the purchase price). Unless you crystallise your loss by selling it, it's only a paper loss at this stage. Of course, it's anyone's guess as to whether the decision to sell at a 6% discount turns out to be right or wrong, financially speaking. Only the fullness of time will tell.

It's too soon to say. The 6% top discount offers at present look reasonable to me at this time, but we have no information on trading volume. I think there should be a cash distribution this coming week, and will see how that affects trading discounts.
