Did it say 5 business days or within 5 business days? Quite often banks take precautions when estimate the completion date. My transfer from iss4 to iss10 was completed on the maturity day. Yes, "30 days after we stop selling this account" is the feature of all issues of this account, so there is no rush funding it, just have to make sure that you have it opened before they close the offer for new applications. My guess is that they won't discontinue iss11 until 6th April, but it's no more that a guess. I'm trying to get iss11 opened for my Mrs, but it turns to be a difficult process. One of my Virgin accounts is joint, but she doesn't have a password for online access and there is no other way to apply. I couldn't find any option online to get a password for her. Next move was to open her own current account, we did but had no correspondence regarding this application for a week now (the initial message was "we'll let you know within 2 days"). Virgin Money can be very difficult to deal with. I can't remember but to be honest it probably meant within 5 bus days if my experience is anything to go by. The 30 days bit is almost certain 30 calendar days as its close to month. I can't check it at mo but i'll have another look. Yes, it is 30 calendar days, not business days.

Given the fact that there is a Interest Rate drop in the Horizon, it's best to Fix (for say 1 year) now before the Rates drop. No point in going for Variable Rates, as they'll definitely come down, sooner or later. The best 1 year Fix that I can find are : Smart Save @ 5.28% - mixed reviews (my gut feeling is to avoid) ?
MBNA @ 5.27% - but the reviews say it's a nightmare - so best to stay clear ?
Stream Bank @ 5.25% - Good Reviews, but very few reviews HT 1 Year @5.17%
Also, Stream Bank has a 90 Day Notice Account @ 5.3%. Any suggestions / opinions ? I am inclined to go for Stream Bank 1 Year Fixed @ 5.25%. Anyone has any exoerience of Stream Bank ?
I have recently opened a Streambank account, 90D and MBNA. I rang MBNa customer service to check what support I get prior opening the account. StreamBank uses the standard web interface for managing accounts like Mansfield and MONBS. I wasn’t giving the account number when application was accepted, I managed to get one after sending secure message. MBNA fixed rate has a longer window to fund the account unliked ATOM bank. I haven’t rang customer service to the my balance yet.

I opened the Stream Bank Account - it was a pretty straightforward process. Received an email immediately and another in 3 hours. However, as mentioned in the email, there was no Account No or details on my online portal. So, I sent a secure message and was very promptly sorted - so everything ok now and funded the initial £1000, which I can see.

Who are Plum?? not seen them before. EA cash ISA 5.15% It's one of the app based "money management" platforms, similar to Moneybox and Chip. I have easy access savings account with Plum, I used it for direct debit needed to get one of the bank switch bounces. Savings products they offer are powered by other banks. Plum has never offered any better rates than I already have with other providers (including their recent ISA offer).

Yes, best ISA deals tend to come out at the end of financial year. It's a good time to grab them even if you have ran out of your allowance because the funding window lets you deposit after 6th April.

They could have just said we can no longer compete with other unscrupulous banks who transfer matured funds into an easy access account earning 0.1% if we don't hear from you rather than transfer your money back to your bank account.
------- Smartsave Terms and Conditions Changes effective today.
Details of the change we’re making to your terms and conditions
We’re introducing a new type of savings account you can hold with us, called a Holding account.
At the moment, if you don’t tell us what you’d like to happen with the balance in your Fixed Rate Saver account before the fixed term ends, we return it to your nominated current account.
From today, if you don’t tell us what you’d like to happen to the balance in your Fixed Rate Saver account before the fixed term ends, instead of paying the balance to your nominated current account, we will open a Holding account for you and pay the entire balance into there, where it can earn interest until you decide to withdraw it.

Does anyone by chance know when Virgin Money withdrew the ISA11 from new applications. Having transferred my ISA5 to ISA11 using their offer they sent 2 weeks before the ISA5 ended and I've now poked £50 at it to make sure it knows i'm investing in this years ISA period, but it was clearly closed to new applications recently I think but i'm not sure they announced its close down date.
They don't seem to make it that easy to see when the account closes to new funding. It's usually 30 days after they withdraw the account, it can be more than that I think in certain circumstances, but as i say i cannot find any of their docs that state when is was closed to new applications and ultimately closes to any further contributions.
