In the current round at first it was Halifax £100 sweetener, then HFX and RBS and now HSBC have turned the tap on for £125 to transfer a current account into 2 of their current a/c products. There are the usual caveats like DD's (2) although they do also allow S/O (2) as a substitute too.)

Have tried a few time with HSBC but this time through they seemed to accept me - so far anyway. I think it might have been as I am now a full pensioner and therefore my monthly/annual income fits their criteria. Mind you they might just be desperate though!

It seems also that there are some restrictions on existing account holders so check carefully!.
I've noticed also that the MSE threads are discussing this and it may be helpful to look at them too. (I did it before I checked those but I did read everything in the t&C etc before I jumped in. I didn't have any DD's or S/O but I set up a couple of reciprocal ones before do the application. Lets hope them only having activated just before they transfer over the account that they are acceptable.

You can apply for an Advance Bank Account if you:
* qualify for a minimum £1,000 arranged overdraft
* can pay in £1,750 or more each month (or at least £10,500 every 6 months)6
* are 18 or older and live in the UK or EU
* are happy for us to do a credit check against your name (if you live in the UK)
Once you qualify for an Advance Bank Account, you can set your arranged overdraft to any amount up to the maximum limit offered.
