Just an update, the 51 members of the P2P team has now loaned $33,675 to worthwhile causes, lending on some 1299 deals.
There is a small amount of wastage, due to the cost of lending and deals going south but compared to COL and Lendy these have almost been profitable. In terms of helping people in some of the poorer parts of the world these have been priceless.
But let's be clear, you will lose money on these investments.

I logged on and and found I have no money to recycle for Palestine. Guess what, I lost money for lending some business in the US. First partial payment and then forever delinquent. I was chasing my lending stats and desperate to lend someone in the US. I should have lent to Palestine instead. The borrower filed a one page annual report with nothing related business. I should have read the loan description as the borrower keep moving around in the states. Right now, 87 loans are still funding for Palestine on Kiva.

No, but i honestly don’t think it make a difference on my 3 remain borrowers. Edit: www.technologyreview.com/2023/08/14/1077351/microfinance-money-making/I guess it’s never too late to learn what really happened to the money I paid to Kiva, at least I got some lending stats for reaching 39 countries and fifty something loans. Most importantly, it’s not as bad as investing on BO. 🤣 Only 15% loss. Meanwhile, people like Crawley made approximately $800,000 in 2020 through our lending / loss making activities. |
