Is anyone else growing a beard through lockdown? That's weird, I was shaving for the first time since covid began when you posted that!

I'm walking around with a badger strapped to my chin at the moment, looking suspiciously like Michael Sheen in Staged.
I don't like to use the word "beard" - it implies intent, when really it's just stubble because I CBA.
There's nothing different about lockdown. Except, basically, it's even shaggier and more unkempt than normal. It's got to go soon, before I start getting the year's tan. Nothing sillier than a reddy-brown face with a white chin.

I'm not able, but If I could I would dearly love to go to one of those turkish barbers who wrap you in hot towels and wax your eyebrows etc. Keep urging my other half, but he is strangely resistant.

I would agree with the definition a beard is a conscious decision, enough facial hair for others to describe as a beard simply happens because you did nothing to stop it. Mine grows about 12.5mm - 1/2" a week (I think it prefers growing in Imperial measurements, but have never asked it). So would be wizard like by now if I had not addressed it at all during the covid period. A completely clean shave I reserve for Weddings and Funerals. I find trimming back to very light stubble once a week allows just enough doubt as to my intent to stop anybody ever inquiring. Head hair is far more of a topic these days....

Not sure about the hot towels in the coming summer, but Turkish barbers and massages 💆♂️ 💆♀️ when they are reopened for service could be a treat

Something about facial hair being manly and turkish barbers being the refuge of a scoundrel ,unless your are preparing for a Gran Torino finale.
Only visit barbers who dip combs in a cloudy glass of water and suggest anything for the weekend, sir? (Sunday Telegraph, perhaps?)

I gave up shaving in 1969 when I went to live on a boat in Malta with no mains electric and never started it again.

my routine now I don't have to be presentable for work video calls is to shave every other day. I CBA to do it every day, but feel grubby after 2 days of growth. Perhaps I should let it grow out for a couple of weeks, but then my other half would leave me.

I went last year to a Kurdish one, flames to burn the hair from your ears, and 2 like matchsticks covered in a thick waxy substance inserted up nose then ripped out to remove the hairs ! One of the most painful things i've experienced.

Not so sure if those lovely will return to work when they are allowed to reopen.

Not had the nose hair wax but the first time you get a barber lighting a fire and wafting it against your ears is a bit surreal especially when you aren't expecting it.
