I've been looking through my spreadsheet hoping to be able to produce some meaningful stats that I could post here to show everybody exactly how the campaign is going (the lings and I are pleased) but I am running into 'problems'.
Whilst I know how many 'letters' I have sent out I am understandably not so sure how many have actually been sent to MPs. So even feedback 'sent letter on xx/xx/xxxx to John Smith MP for XYZ' is valuable.
What I can see is that where a Col investor has told me the letter has been sent this has not always been followed up by feedback to say that the MP has responded. This again is understandable, not all MPs will reply, some require a further 'nudge' to get a positive response. Others unfortunately will never respond, all we and you can do is to try our best.
We have written certain documents that may be of help if you run into a brick wall with your MP. Several of you will know what I am talking about.
Whilst the lings and I have been extremely busy over the last week dealing with outside bodies and investor specific PMs and letters, I am always looking for more feedback in order that I can make this campaign as positive as I can for all Col investors.
So if you have sent the letter several weeks ago and have received nothing back please drop me a PM. If you can include your MPs name (if you haven't given it to me already) and the date that you sent your letter that would be really useful. Several 'MPs of interest' have appeared in the last week due to feedback given to me.
If you have received a reply from your MP and haven't given me the details I would really like to see it (redacted of your details of course). I realise that copying out an MPs reply is a real PITA which is why I set up a Col specific gmail address, the full address can be found on the PM that I sent to you.
After all those words all I am really saying is that the lings and I are here and we will help you if we can ...... and if you can help us with any feedback no matter how 'small' that would be great.
After 3+ years of daily work on Col I really wish there was an 'easy way', unfortunately there isn't but if this campaign succeeds it will ensure that after all this time the FCA will be accountable and this will give us all the best chance of seeing our money again.

Hi duck. I received an email from my MP today, who forwarded on this response he got from the clerk of the TSC. “Dear Mr Wishart Thank you very much for your email. I’m replying on Mel Stride’s behalf, as many other Members have recently contacted the Committee about Collateral, on behalf of constituents. The Committee raised Collateral with the Financial Conduct Authority when it gave oral evidence a couple of weeks ago. Here is a link to the transcript: committees.parliament.uk/oralevidence/2155/pdf/. Harriett Baldwin led the questioning, which begins at Q 146. The Chief Executive was limited in what he felt he could say, given the enforcement investigation which is under way and the possibility of criminal proceedings. But he did say that he hoped to be able to give the Committee an update in September, and I expect that the Committee will look carefully at that update when it comes. Dear Sir Due to Covid the FCA have been unable to spend funds on whitewash. They hope to be able to afford the whitewash in September and therefore will be able to respond to enquiries once this has been applied. Yours

Guys & Gals, PLEASE keep duck updated on you contacting your MP efforts – it's absolutely vital!
If you want the best possible chance of getting yer COLL spondoolies back, PLEASE Personal Message duck and notify him whether you have contacted/emailed your MP, or not.I Personal Messaged duck that I'd sent "The" email to my MP, gave him her name, and that I am awaiting a reply, and he was V receptive. Soon as I hear from my MP I'll immediately update duck again via Personal Message on what she says. Best not to post MP replies etc on here but it's HUGELY helpful if you can Personal Message duck and keep him up to speed on when & what you sent your MP, and definitely what your MP's reply is/was. Duck was V pleased to hear from me and was gracious enough to also answer a few questions I had. As I have said, please let duck know who your MP is because this allows him and The Lings to strategise and focus better in future. Don't let duck and The Lings efforts be in vain, they're trying V hard to get you YOUR money back – SUPPORT THEM!! I thank you.
OzBoy.

Dear Sir Due to Covid the FCA have been unable to spend funds on whitewash. They hope to be able to afford the whitewash in September and therefore will be able to respond to enquiries once this has been applied. Yours Appreciate the humour, Col hasn't exactly been a bundle of laughs for the last 3 years. However in that humour there is a very serious point which shows why this campaign is so important. We have already seen attempts to downplay the seriousness of the FCAs involvement in the Col debacle, Andrew Bailey's 'biggest regret' before moving on swiftly, the assurances that the problem can never happen again since the Interim Permissions Register is effectively closed and most recently the 'sophisticated hack'. Whilst it was interesting to see the FCAs Chief Exec semi commit to a Sept date for an update there is still not any clarity as to when when the complaints will be dealt with. As I have posted before, it could be then, it could be some time in the future after any legal proceedings. We are planning for both scenarios behind the scene. The Treasury Committee was unable to examine the main failures of the FCA at the recent hearing due to the investigation and possible criminal charges, this is the same problem that the 'lings' and I have been having all along. By supporting this campaign what you are doing is showing the relevant bodies that there are very serious regulatory failures wrt Col, whitewash is not acceptable and will not be accepted.

...... Appreciate the kind words in your post ozboy , I try to be of use. Feedback is vital as ozboy has said to building the bigger picture, which tells us where we need to put more effort in. Col is essentially 'small' in the financial world so we do need to be effective in our efforts in order to get the point across that there are real people who have lost real money due to the FCA's failures to fulfill it's statutory duties. MP support is vital to making ourselves heard. It's now a month since the first letters were sent out. A fair number of Col investors have had 'success' with their MP but there are many instances where I don't know if the letter was actually sent to an MP and/or if it is simply a case of the MP hasn't replied. If you sent the letter and have received nothing back let me know by PM and I may well be able to help. (I would like to think those who have been in touch already would agree with me here) MPs name, might seem a strange one but as I gather more names the instances of more than one Col investor in a constituency increases. This has proved to be very useful where the MP is reluctant to engage. The other point of passing on your MPs name is because there are understandably 'MPs of interest', this might be because they sit on the Treasury Committee, work for the Treasury, sit on other committees, have an in depth knowledge of the financial world etc. These MPs each receive a personalised approach ..... but the 'lings' and I can only take this approach if we know who your MP is! Finally, whilst having to work by PM is time consuming it does allow me to be more open. A lot of Col investors now know a lot more about what went on but they like me cannot publish this information openly. I will do my best to answer questions on this and other Col threads but if I'm heading into dangerous grounds (as I was with ozboy ) I will use PMs.

I've been keeping pressure on with my MP Nadine Dorries. Her office has written to the Treasury Committee after reading through the very comprehensive brief compiled by duck Looks like a standard response following correspondence from a number of MP's. As ozboy said earlier, let's keep the pressure on. We were failed by Collateral & I don't plan to be failed by the FCA too!! Subject: RE: MP Correspondence FCA regulatory failures over Collateral (UK) Ltd Dear Alison, Thank you very much for your email. We were failed by Collateral & I don't plan to be failed by the FCA too!! .... Indeed that is a standard response now and exactly what I want to see. The Treasury Committee is unable to enquire openly due to the investigation and possible criminal charges but every MP that makes contact shows that they understand that something very wrong has gone on here. All we can do is continue to exert pressure and where anything misleading is said to correct it. Unfortunately how this matter is sorted out is not in our hands but the letter and representations make it very clear what we want to see happen.
