Yes I agree with the ban on advertising, the bit that always bugs me is the tiny text that says "should be eaten in moderation, and as part of a healthy diet" unfortunately too many have these every day or nearly every day.
Yes I eat chips, and pies, takeaways, battered fish, pizza etc, but not every day. For me it's a treat, for some it is a major part of their diet. I can remember being told by a work colleague that he was "allergic to anything green", so If he has a burger he takes out the lettuce and gherkin, when we went for a meal he would have meat and potatoes with no veg.
I do get frustrated when I see these companies as Official snack food or whatever for major sports tournaments eg Euros, World cup, Olympics it's surely giving the wrong impression.
It's also annoying when they compare themselves to others, for example McDonalds say a big mac only 500 calories compared to 600 in fish and chips, as I see it one is a meal one a snack.
We don't have a McDonalds but it really frustrates me seeing the queue of kids at Greggs as they leave school

from a personal point of view, yes I applauded Christiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba for taking a stand.
Ronaldo is a bit of a health freak, and he says the Coke etc bottles give the wrong impression. Pogba is Muslim so to me putting beer bottles even low/no alcohol in front of him is offensive .
To me UEFA telling teams they could be fined or players banned if they persist is wrong.
I'd like to see England and Wales taking a stand but I know they won't.

I listened to a BBC interview the day before yesterday. The advertisers said that, on average, this advertising only triggers 3 cal per person per day consumption so it was not worth the ban....
If it only triggers 3 cal why are they bothering to advertise?
If you remember when the sugar tax was going to come-in, the food industry told us it was impossible to move their products off all that sugar in 6 months and it would be a disaster. Fast forward 6 months they all managed it. When industry whinges, you know what that means, they are lying.

3 calories per person per day so 200 million calories a day in the UK or 73,000 million calories a year and at 7700 calories per kg, 9,480,519 extra KG over a year, that's 1,580 African elephants , or 113,400 average British men. The other point is that it's 3 calories per person per day, but we all know some are more influenced than others so lets say it is 1 in 10 thats 30 calories a day or 10,950 a year or 1.4 kg a year.

I think all advertising is spam and intrusive and I should like to see it all banned.

I'd like to see England and Wales taking a stand but I know they won't. and surely these days most sportspersons at a news conference are going to want to drink water/recovery drink, not indulge in a flaming coca-cola or a beer (even if it was alcohol free). Product advertising is one thing, but placing the products as if these people are actually going to drink them, rather them give them a bottle of water, is antagonistic to them, and makes us out as fools. * I inwardly applauded Ronaldo for what he did, and Pogba for his more subtle action. And I'm not much of a footie fan. *of course we must recognise that is this advertising which helps to generate the revenues to pay these people their grossly over inflated salaries, and so some level of humility/recognition of that is also called for, and there is therefore some level of probably unintended hypocrisy going on here as well. But they didn't personally choose the 'partners'. **Even more important: surely players shirts should not be adorned with the logos of gambling firms ?

If a company can pay people that much, and still be profitable... Good luck to them. If an individual can convince an employer that they're worth that much... Good luck to them. Personally, I wouldn't be a customer of that company if I found their remuneration policies objectionable. (Who is Kevin Wossit?)

Oh, he's a foreign fringe player with small bunch of no- hoper wannabees from a run down outpost in north western England. Just imagine how much he'd get paid if he played for one of the world's biggest and most successful clubs such as Everton.

I never pay to watch football out of principle, either on TV or the terraces, and find the price of tickets staggeringly high. How the working man affords to watch 'his' team these days is beyond me. (That rare beast - a famous Belgian!)

I am sure we are all expected to pay for football with the TV licence and higher price of branded goods which include advertising charges. The BBC dropped Formula 1 years ago when Ecclestone vastly increased the cost and also Moto GP, but they still choose to pay for football snooker tennis and athletics, none of which I am interested in watching.
