First time I ever flew with them was today. I was expecting a poor, cramped service but boy did they surpass my expectations.
3 hour flight and seat belt sign was on the entire flight. Supposedly for "covid reasons". I say supposedly because they didn't care much about enforcing mask wearing. You had to ask the very important cabin crew if you wanted to go to the toilet.
Customer service at check in was scary. Greeted with a "...I'm sorry sir you need an XYZ document as the country you are flying to requires it...". I knew that wasn't the case and thankfully when he checked with his supervisor we were allowed to proceed. Rules are changing and varied so must be tough to keep up but surely your opening gambit shouldn't be a flat no.
I've been on several other low cost carriers before but never been in seats where not only are they as close as possible together but because the seat backs are low, it feels like you are peering into the row in front the whole time. There were no seat back pockets either presumably as there wouldn't be room and the tray table slopes down without a rim so anything you leave on it runs down and falls off.
I don't understand why folk don't want to pay a little more for a little better? In my case today they suited my needs time/date/location wise but I shall do my best to avoid in future but its difficult as its not as if there are 10 airlines available on every route.

I flew them to Cadiz and back in 2012, to collect my 1/2 from his ship. The whole thing cost 14.00£. I was impressed. Maybe its deteriorated since then. (wonderful oranges )

The technology allows them to charge for the very basics, and of course, allows them to pollute the planet with CO2 to continue the pressure on climate change.
Talk about mortgaging your future and your children's future.

They are fantastic value if you avoid paying for extras. The only one we consider is to check in one random free seat then consider paying for one next to it which is usually a cheap one. The idea of paying to drag a large case on heel attacking mini wheels down miles of corridors does not appeal.

I used to fly back home to East Midlands from Dublin a few times a year with Ryanair, 45 minute flight so ideal. The taxi to the airport sometimes cost triple what the return flight would cost me. Will be doing so again hopefully.
As mentioned they are great value if you don't need to add anything on, I just used to take a rucksack. Spent more time waiting in the airport for the flight than I did actually on the plane most times.

@bobo, I think I love you. In a manly sort of way.

thanks Captain.
I may drone on about this subject but I really believe this is the most important subject we should be talking about, not football, not the death of Princess Diana, not P2P, not Covid (though that is a wake up call), not Boris, not Brexit (though clearly trading with Singapore is worse than trading with France).
Climate change will damage our kids' future and needs a serious push back.

I don't have any children, and should be "Getting my kicks before the whole sh*thouse goes up in flames", as Jim Morrison said. But I just can't take that attitude. Even though when I'm dead, I've got no close relatives or further involvement with the future of Earth, I still feel an intense pain and horror at the destruction and wiping out of the plant and animal species on this wonder filled planet.
