GRRRRR
had a letter from the water people yesterday saying they would be doing scheduled works from the 12th to 31st of this month.
The last time this happened they were flushing pipes through and we ended up with rusty water for several days, and of course typically it started to run discoloured when I had a white wash in.
anyway a quick check online tells me they need to give 48 hours notice in writing before starting otherwise they have to pay compensation. So I ring up and get told the gut organising the works will get back to me within 2 hours.
2 and a half hours later I get a call to say my communication has been logged and they will get back to me this afternoon, So I politely point out that I was promised a call by someone who would address my concern before now. I ask that the next person that rings be able to give me dates in the 3 weeks when I can use my washing machine without the risk of ruining clothes.
10 Past 9 this morning I get a call saying they can see no works in my area other by western power !
So I get the letter and read them their reference ( in tiny print ) and the name of the manager authorising the works, the young lady says I know him I'll get in touch and he'll ring you later today. At this point I remind them again that they have breached the requirement to give 48 hours written notice and that we are all due compensation as laid down in the law. I am then told "that doesn't apply to emergency works" so I read the section of the letter back that says "Maintenance works" and point out I have no issue with emergency works and wouldn't expect a letter in advance. but this is clearly scheduled works

Even in an emergency they have certain time limits on providing replacement water supplies. Mrs B is very good at extracting her pound of flesh when this happens.

It's not off, they are saying may be off for short periods, cloudy or discoloured, but yes part of my argument is I want the compensation that is due by law because they have failed to give due notice . last time we lost supply due to a burst in a pipe in a pipe under the mountain they tried to claim the period was too short. Unfortunately the time stamp on the text saying the water was off was a full 90 minutes before they said on the letter refusing compensation. I phoned and pointed that out and got my compensation. You should never believe these people and always challenge them.

They are not public utilities although IMO they should be.

Well it's now Friday and no response, so I guess Monday is complaint time.
They sent me a text yesterday asking how well they had resolved my problem...
thought a string of 0 scores might provoke a response asking why I thought they were so bad
