Ahhh I think you've illustrated my point quite well. It sounds like you were a banker at one stage. IMO there ought to be checks and balances to prevent individual bwankers from determining who is and who isn't a toxic buffoon and therefore who is and who isn't allowed to open an account. There are (to repeat what someone else has said). Some form of AML or Risk division/officer or similar would have flagged it. To pick a bank at complete random: HSBC. It had a revenue in last year of $15.56 bn. In an organisation like that, the CEO doesn't wake up in the morning and say: I don't like the cut of the jib of xxxxx and then removes their banking facilities like some tinpot Putiin. So you can sleep peacefully: you're desire for 'checks and balances' is already met. Really? You think that?........... Thats exactly what i think would and is happening.

Twitter are limiting the number of tweets that people can read, with unverified accounts (those that haven't paid for the blue tick) being limited to 600 a day. I don't go within a million miles of any of the social media platform, but how many people are there out there that would normally exceed this figure?

I don't think this is aimed at 'humans', its aimed at data scraping bots.

Orkney council to look at proposals to become territory of Norway. I wonder if the SNP would support an independence referendum?

Hardly social media (I think the clue is in the name P2P) Huh? Any forum like this one is clearly social media. Social media are interactive technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, interests, and other forms of expression through virtual communities and networks.summit.sfu.ca/item/18103and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_media

I read both sustrans (lobby for the bicycle) and rac (for the car). Have to say it doesn't sound like a terrible idea. Kind of making entire neighbourhoods into cul-de-sacs? If the DM is broadly true though, that academic needs to be sacked asap.

... the same yob was also prone to racing an off road motor bike around the streets, often on just one wheel and with no helmet, the Police had been instructed not to chase him as he might be seriously injured in any crash or if he lost control. Now to me that encourages dangerous behaviour. It does, but the Police are between a rock and a hard place on this sort of thing. Just look at recent incidents that have been in the news. Over the years, the rules around police engaging in chases, who is qualified to do it, the authority required to do it and continue it, and the level of continuous monitoring has increased. And that is probably, overall, not a bad thing. If nothing else, there is a significantly heightened degree of risk of innocent third party injury/fatality, either from collision by the person being chased or indeed from the Police themselves (regardless of their skills and qualification). Also, however 'inadvertent' - or indeed "accidental" to use the current in vogue topic - extrajudicial death sentence is rarely the appropriate sanction for the particular anti social behaviour or crime. In many cases these days, with cameras in so many places, if the individual can be identified it doesn't really need a chase in order to find and bring to justice [of course in the case of stolen vehicles that is far less so]. It's a difficult one, but the reticence about engaging in high speed chases unless really justified is an understandable one. sort of relevant to this topic: Watch: Driver cornered in cul-de-sac rams police car

I don't think this is aimed at 'humans', its aimed at data scraping bots. It's also aimed at upselling to the serious addicts, because St Elon needs the revenue.

Not quite cul-de-sacs, just to get through traffic to stay on main routes instead of going through residential areas. Also, the "15min neighbourhood" idea is basically that everybody should have access to shops/local businesses within 15 minutes of home. And, yes, they're superb ideas... but the conspiracy fruitbats have got hold of them, and twisted them into restrictions on freeeeeedom! It's all a way for the New World Order to make sure nobody ever goes anywhere, or something.
