overthehill , I've reported the post so as to bring to the attention of the mods / admins. ProBoards search function / indexing is firmly in chocolate-teapot territory; along with the rest of its' infrastructure, I suspect. Indexing issues have been going for years; eg: this poor guy has been banging his head against the PB brickwork for over a year with no lasting effect. (On the one hand I admire his diligence and tenacity, but on the other I do wonder when he shouldn't just give it up as a lost cause. The ( misattributed?) Einstein quote around repetition / expectation / insanity springs to mind.) Still, free is free... (I use the term loosely)

Are you asking for the forum to be re-indexed because you're getting strange results when using the search tool? Yes, I can put in a request, this is something that the forum hosts (PB) do for us and I think it only gets done during the working week/hours in the US.
The search results can be unreliable, PB say that some words can't be searched as they're too common (and there's quite a long list of them). In practise that seems to mean that you can search for those words but the results are odd and not accurate, so if this is the case a re-index of the forum wont help. I use google to search the forum; putting the word I'm searching for ahead of "site:p2pindependentforum.com" So if I were looking for the uses of the word "unreliable" on the forum I'd put into the google search bar
"unreliable site:p2pindependentforum.com" without the quote marks

Indexes need to be added to/modified/deleted from as posts are added and also rebuilt periodically as they get fragmented and inefficient. As I said I put a single user into the search tool and it is not returning his recent posts since 16 dec, no other search terms. The indexes are probably rebuilt on a schedule, just that 2 weeks is a bit of a joke. If that isn't enough information, it doens't matter, forget it!

If you need to look at a list of all the posts by a particular User, go to their profile page, near the bottom are two options to click on, one is all their posts the other is all their threads.
Does this help?
re-indexing the forum will take at least until Monday and perhaps longer, because of new year and that the host is in the US..

According to the search index I've had no posts between 10jan2024 and 26apr2024. There must be something the moderators can do to fix this. It's probably 2 minutes of labour to click a box labelled rebuild index. A forum with no search facility is just a trash bin.

It seems we're not the only forum with this issue currently
I'll request a re-index from Proboards, the forum host - It's not something we actually have direct power over. But as it's not just us it may take longer and may not just be a simple fix
Hopefully the simple page Search, which is on the top right of most pages, is still working and you can use that
The complex or detail search function is on the tool bar at the top on the left

Just checked for their response to my request for a re-index:
