That's a shame. All swept under the carpet.

Prince Andrew settles US civil sex assault case
What's the link between the thread title and the article? Virginia Giuffre stated she wanted him to take responsability for his actions and it wasn't about the money.

The unexpected development was disclosed in a document submitted to court on Tuesday. Andrew has agreed to make a “substantial donation” to a charity, and has accepted that she “suffered as an established victim of abuse”. He commended Giuffre’s bravery.
Does this mean she didn't get any cash?

I thought she wanted her day in court to prove what happened (and humiliate Andrew), but seems to have settled instead. not how I'm reading it. The money is going to a charity (albeit one I think she setup). Also: He has also pledged to “demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein” by supporting the “fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims.”also: Prince Andrew, the statement added, had "never intended to malign Ms Giuffre's character" and he recognised she had "suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks".In an out of court, he's never going to say "I sh***d her", but given the previous statements made by his lawyers, when coupled with a major financial transaction this is about as close as it gets to mea culpa.

Yep, correction. I had misread, but also this morning's reports on the BBC make clearer with the critical use of 'and'. Payment to her and payment to the charity.

The Telegraph is now reporting a figure of £12m (total) and the Queen to subsidise some (all ?) of that.
Which begs the question: should we have a poll as to whether the queen should pay for some of the settlement ? Obviously its now pretty much a done deal, but what the hell.....

Sex and money are the meaning of life. All sex costs money and must be paid for one way or another at sometime.

I don't think the Queen would get directly involved with this. But if her second son is a bit short of cash down the road she might well help him out as any Mum would, but didn't he sell a property to cover the cost anyway? BBC were reporting £10M for her, £2M to charity plus expenses.

As I recall, the property was worth around Euro 17m, of which 5m was a cash sum which was still owed to the prior owner - he was in the process of being sued/pursued through the courts his for failure to pay that money in the first place, no surprises there. Plus it was jointly owned with Sarah F (though how much was hers if any seems to have not been reported). So that would leave a max of around Euro 12m free cash. He has his own legal expenses to pay up (unless the queen is also settling them, which it is thought she may be doing).

Well, one thing's for sure, he hasn't, and won't ever be able to clear his name. That cloud will hang over him for the rest of his life.
