Time to do another transfer out ISA, does anyone know why AC now have :
Customers with an existing ISA should take care to preserve the tax status of their ISA by arranging a transfer out rather than withdrawing funds to their bank account as withdrawal may cause the loss of the ISA tax-free status. Please use reference: 33017
Highlighted on their website. Any ideas what the Ref 33017 refers too or where we should put it on the the transfer IN form
TIA

Has anyone noticed that many Banks and Building Societies will not accept transfers-in of IFISA funds held in cash, either part transfers or full balance transfers? This is increasingly being stated in ISA transfer terms and conditions. I don't recall this situation being made particularly clear when investing in IFISAs. A situation could arise where IFISA funds might have to remain in IFISAs only, which is not ideal with a diminishing number of IFISA providers, or less appetite for such investing...

In my dealing with the high street banks, most of the people dont even know what an IFISA is, and they get confused with the cash element part. I know for a fact Barclays and Santander both accept partial IFISA transfer to their cash product (as I have managed to do it). you just can't use the automated online service or do it Via an APP. You need to print off a form fill it out and post to the bank. www.santander.co.uk/personal/support/savings-and-investments/ISA-transfers. This is the Santander link and as you can see there are 5 forms to choose from to transfer an ISA to them. Obviously Im not saying you should use Santander, but if you choose to - it is possible.

I dont think the ref has any meaning (mine is 25537)... Ive done a few transfers and never used it. I did ask CS about it and they didnt seem to know what it was either. It doesnt appear on the ISA form generated by Assetz Exchange.

In my dealing with the high street banks, most of the people dont even know what an IFISA is Yes! I just spoke to Principality Building Society as their 3.9% rate is pretty good for an Easy access Cash ISA and it took a while to decide they don't accept transfers in from IFISAs. I know for a fact Barclays and Santander both accept partial IFISA transfer to their cash product (as I have managed to do it). you just can't use the automated online service or do it Via an APP. You need to print off a form fill it out and post to the bank. Sainsbury's transfer in form mentions IFISAs too. www.sainsburysbank.co.uk/savings/cash-isa#find-out-moreSo far I've found: Barclays: 0.75% on £1+ Santander: 3.2% on £500+ Sainsburys: 1% on <£500 and 3.7% on £500+ So I think I'm probably going to open a Sainsburys account as a way of moving away from Assetz while keeping in an ISA wrapper...

I have successfully transferred 3 lots to Virgin Money fixed ISA from Assetz over the last 4 months, takes about 4-6 weeks , you need to print off a form from VM and take to a branch , or post to VM.

Just done another transfer, From assetz to Virgin Money 2 year fixed bond, Applied at Virgin on 2 July, had to print form off (assetz are not on the auto feature), The cash transfer is going through today, so 10 day service, very good as far as im concerned as previously its taken 4-6 weeks due to delays at Virgin Moneys processing centre.
As mentioned above , the Assetz website says :
Customers with an existing ISA should take care to preserve the tax status of their ISA by arranging a transfer out rather than withdrawing funds to their bank account as withdrawal may cause the loss of the ISA tax-free status. Please use reference: xxxxx (5 figure number)
The 5 figure number is your account number at assetz, using this seems to speed up the process.
The posters who have posted their number on here may want to delete the digits , as they refer to your personal account number

Good to hear you can transfer IFISAs in, because Virgin only mention Cash and Stocks and Shares ISAs on their website..!
About ten days since I posted my form to Tesco and no sign of anything moving yet...

Just had a transfer request rejected by Assetz (after their customer had closed for the day) stating: Looking at your account, we can see your funds are currently invested and we are not able to process a transfer of £xxxx.yy. Please log in to your online portal for full details.
I have just over £xxxx.yy in my Cash ISA account so I have replied back to them with a screenshot to prove it.
Anyone else had a similar rejection?

It's happened to me a couple of times. I've concluded that the process checks your start-of-day cash balance rather than the "live" one, so I now wait 24 hours to submit a transfer request.

Just so I can understand this.
If I had a £20,000 (AC) IFISA which has earned £1,000 interest, total value is £21,000. The IFISA currently contains 41 different loan parts of £500 each and £500 uninvested cash (repaid or from interest), total £21,000.
I could initially only do a partial transfer of £500 to a new providers cash ISA and would then have the same years ISA held across two different providers, AC and the new provider.
As further loans repay I can transfer the repaid amounts and interest to the new providers ISA, this process will be ongoing for several years, there is no shortcut. By comparison a Loanpad 90 day IFISA could be transferred out in 90 days.
