A leaflet from Reform UK has been delivered to my address. I didn’t like it. Only Mr Farage and the other guy faces are shown, not the actual candidate standing himself.
Is it even allowed to be promoted like this?

I get the impression that if the public face of Reform was a bit more user friendly then they would do a lot better. They are the friendly face... of the National Front/BNP/EDL. The current Tory party are the even friendlier face. "The current Tory party is the even friendlier face of the National Front/BNP" ? Right......

Right...... Yes, but you missed that middle step out. Centre-right ---------> Current Tories --> RefUK --> NF/BNP/EDL/Lozza

Selection of candidates is the key to a proper functioning democracy - and as we can see it's a process which has largely been stitched up to suit the convenience of large parties. Political parties are themselves an aberration of democracy - albeit one we have become inured to.
But if there was some kind of 'law' on candidate selection it might go something like this: You don't have to belong to a party but if you do your organ has to offer a constituency wide form of candidate selection where not less than bieninally. Constitunency wide means that - the electors in a constituency.
Now I know what you're going to say: if you are 'no show' voter anyway why would it matter to you that the candidate wasn't just chosen by six people? But that's where is ends if we let the current forms of (narrowing) selection to continue. [Of course I voted in favour of AV in 2011 but not enough good 'democrats' joined with me there!]

Wasn't it 'trust-me' Dave Cameron who 'promised' to hold primary elections for 200 of his candidates as a test run to this idea? Nothing happened because he didn't mean it of course. They have been holding them. Not 200... but a few in 2010, the 2014 UKIP byelections, a dozen or so for 2015, and one for 2019. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_Party_(UK)_parliamentary_primariesThe 2015 and 2016 Labour leadership elections showed the risk of totally open selections, with the opposition able to vote for the least electable candidate...

Its nonsense. No, it was a single comment, spread across two sentences. This sometimes happens with more complex concepts, although I understand why that might be a little hard for you to grasp. But if you wish to view it as one, then fine. I mean, I already agreed with you that there's a direct route between the current Tories and the fringe fruitbat-bigot brigade... "Yes, but..."Centre-right ---------> Current Tories --> (RefUK) --> NF/BNP/EDL/Lozza

A5 size, cut price tat. However, I know a few locals who might vote for them given the pledge for 'zero waiting lists'. Been lots of complaints recently about how long it takes to get membership of the golf club.
