Apparently 1 at least 1 polling station in Scotland voters were told to use STV and rank them 1,2,3,4. This was corrected, and the presiding officer decided that they would count 1 as who the elector wanted to vote for.
A recount in Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire - an SNP seat under previous boundaries - has been delayed until Saturday. It is being held due to a statistical issue - there appears to be a discrepancy between the verified votes and the counted votes - which means the returning officer cannot declare a result at this stage. I assume the discrepancy is significant
Maybe things get publicised now but I don't remember this level of cockups in previous elections

OK, Keir's speech has bored me already. When's the next election ? anyone who thinks Labour ( or the tories ) would heal the split in the nation is deluded. and seriously if people thought Boris was a bumbler as foreign secretary wait till "black smoke over the Vatican that's racist" Lammy meets foreign leaders speaking to a couple of friends round here and they are expecting huge rises in benefits and state pension next year. Laughing at French election the right want pension age down to 62 the left are demanding 60, the current is 64. No European country can afford to reduce the pension age, the left are also demanding prices caps on food, and utilities

Important question:
What will happen to Larry the Cat?
The ousted politicians can take care of themselves but who will care for Larry in this brave new world?
MW
I believe he is on the payroll as a civil servant rather than political so he stays Yep. And just like the rest of them he works mainly from home

The absurdity of FPTP laid bare. Reform poll more votes than LibDems, yet win 4 seats while LD win 71. Crazy. Yet every single part of the country gets the single most locally popular candidate as their MP. We simply don't count votes nationally. Never have done. It's not how our system is designed to work. Some parties get a few votes everywhere, and win nothing. Some are more locally focussed, and win the seats they put the effort into. I'm not going to disagree with you if you say we can devise a better system - but we need to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Local representation is important. Do you want PR or do you not ? If you find that question hard to answer how about this: Do you want to see any changes made to the electoral system?

Exit poll had RefUK on 13. Reality - 4. Good. It'll be interesting to watch Farridge and Tick's constituents realise their new MPs don't actually want to do the job of an MP. Boston previously voted for 'The Bypass Party'. They didn't get a bypass. He's getting straight down to business and meeting with people who are concerned about the Skegness bowling greens closing. Livin' the dream.

Overall the "Blackmailable" Tory party are a danger to the UK and so it is a great result. I am especially pleased that warmongers Truss and Shapps have got the boot. Although Starmer is basically a puppet who serves the same people as Sunak, he is going to find it a lot harder to get his party to agree to get the UK involved in the possible upcoming war in the Middle East - which the UK should stay out of.

Conservative Party demise in 6 lines since David Cameron. Theresa May scored highest, Boris scored lowest, I would say.

Do you want PR or do you not ? If you find that question hard to answer how about this: Do you want to see any changes made to the electoral system? It's not a binary question. Do I want fairer representation? Yes. Do I want to break the constituency link? No. Do I want my fellow voters to understand how it works now, so they can better use what we have? Yes. I think yesterday was a massive step forward in that last one.

why do we have nonsense seats such as Na h-Eileanan an Iar www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2024/uk/constituencies/S1400002721,000 electors ( not votes ) the winner had far less votes than many majorities the standard is 73393 and all should be within 5% I can understand Anglesea and the isle of Wight etc but this is just so small

I'll give that no longer than the minute the national press disappear, then they'll never see him again.

Yes he has a massive majority but he is leading a very divided party and is not exactly a popular leader who is in tune with his support base. Hopefully there wont be a conflict for us to find out but at the moment I would be very surprised if there was not a major conflict in the region within the next year*.. * - which the UK should stay out of

Absolutely it does. But I suspect we differ in which direction...
