The investigative court reporting blog mouseinthecourt is crowdfunding to enable us to provide coverage of the criminal trial brought by the Financial Conduct Authority against the directors of Collateral (UK) Ltd. The trial is expected to start on April 11th April 17th 2023. We are delighted that Transparency Task Force’s head of Investigative Reporting Alex Varley-Winter, in a freelance capacity, has agreed to cover the first week for us. Automatic reporting restrictions rightly prevent us and others from speculating about what might be said at trial, or what evidence might be adduced. What we can say is that contemporaneous reporting of the trial is likely to not only be of interest to those who used the Collateral platform, but will also provide a unique insight for others into how the FCA investigates and prosecutes a case. Further details, and how to donate can be viewed on the gofundme website. Please feel free to PM me or respond below if you have any questions, thank you. The trial is expected to start on April 17th 2023.

So yes the trial is listed to begin at 11am in courtroom 12 at Southwark Crown Court.
During the trial the blog will only be able to report what the jury is told, subject to any additional reporting restrictions.
So discussions in court held without the jury present will be noted but not published at this time.
Our reports will be published on the mouseinthecourt blog and linked to from here - although I may push these into a separate thread with the ability to comment deactivated during the trial.

Trial ineffective, 16:10
The trial will not be proceeding. An ineffective trial means that the trial cannot go ahead on this date but will be heard again at another time.

Update posted on the gofundme page:
--- Firstly thank you very much for supporting crowdfunded journalism of the peer-to-peer lending sector.
We can confirm that the trial started yesterday and the court has been busy dealing with preliminary matters prior to the jury being sworn in.
Our journalist Alex has been present in court keeping a watchful eye over proceedings.
Preliminary matters are subject to strict reporting restrictions which prevent us from being able to report them at this stage.
The mouseinthecourt is now committed to covering the first two weeks and if more donations are received we will be able to extend coverage accordingly.
When we are able to we will be publishing our reports as soon as we can.
Thanks again,
Daniel -------
Day three of the trial is expected to start at 10.30am tomorrow
