The DHL notification is just to advise they have it in their network. I bought a towbar recently and DHL were delivering. I recieved the message constantly. Eventually I spoke to the supplier and asked for a replacement. Then DHL tried to deliver 2!. Tracking with couriers are pretty useless. I only know when a delivery is made when I get a message from evri saying it's been thrown over my wall!!

Well, I went to the Post Office to renew my passport this morning. I'll report back on how it goes. I did mine online last year. Some shenanigans over the DIY photo not being accepted, but a tenner for a pro one (local camera shop) saw that resolved. I seem to remember it was actually surprisingly fast.

Try having two passports. At Renewal, the UK absolutely insists on physically seeing the other one, and they must match exactly, in all details. Now, I understand and appreciate the need for this level of scrutiny, but it definitely adds another level of "Things that could can will go wrong."

Now, I understand and appreciate the need for this level of scrutiny, but it definitely adds another level of "Things that could can will go wrong." Unless things changed recently, this is not a requirement if you are applying to renew your British passport from abroad (as a dual citizen). Not every country even permits it to be done. And even more bizarrely it wasn't even a UK requirement to declare multiple citizenship (even without paperwork) about 10 years ago if I recall that correctly. So I would question whether the security (/ admin hassle) risk of sending the physical passport has any valid benefit over a certified copy or photocopy. I am pretty sure many dual citizens officially lose their second passports around the time they need to reapply for the British one if they're located in the UK...not to avoid security protocols, but to avoid the passport office's non-security protocols. Can't blame them.

LOL don't get me started on colours, when the council I worked for went from Conservative to Labour, the Labour members had all the chairs in the committee rooms and members offices replaced with ones with red seats rather than blue.
