so I have about 12 camera lenses for sale to fit a specific range from a specific manufacturer
Last night 12 questions all from the same guy "will this fit X"
So I reply politely " it clearly says in the description not, this will not fit this model"
I then get a follow up question on all the ones I've marked as spares and repairs "is this fully working and is the lens clean and clear of fungus"
So I go through everyone and reply appropriately "no this is not Working" or "yes it works but has fungus"
Wake up this morning and another question on all of them "why you not ship to Italy" So I respond to every question "because I have had issues selling to Italy in the past"
I've now had requests on each of the working ones to A) post to Italy for < €10 B) reduce the price from £30 to below €10 so €20 per item is Circa £18 less eBay Fees £16, Postage will be £12 leaving me £4 for an item I sell for £30
Got fed up and I've reported him to eBay.

Ebay doesn't care about sellers. Maybe one day they'll realise they'll have no buisness if there are no sellers.

Well, other platform offers almost free postage with lockers. It is definitely not smart to shop only with ebay.
Inpost lockers are free with vinted purchase

Laughing this afternoon. Saw a package for sale which in fully working order is £150 plus to resell. yesterday I offered the seller £75 which is fair the 3 items working are about £50 each, damaged about £15-20, so if 3 work I make a profit if 2 work I make a small profit if 1 or none work I make a loss. very quick response of "no chance" from the seller
Auction ends and I'm the only bidder at £40 so I paid, I've now had the seller message me saying he's decided to take the offer after all. I've messaged back and said "not how it works, once the auction finishes you can't take a prior offer"
So a waiting game no to see if it arrives, or if I get a cancellation as it's become damaged

I never remember all the intricicies of the Ebay system and tend to have to google my situation everytime something like that happens. P.S. I have noticed Ebay getting more expensive as a buyer. Maybe their seller fees have increased?

I've been using Ebay since 2003 for buying and selling, I'm currently at 1444 sales/purchases, it's the best thing since sliced bread. Latest example was 2 vacuum belts for an old dyson , £2.50 with free postage, arrived in 2 days and it took me 5 minutes and I never left my seat. Very few issues which ebay sorted out, I have to say Ebay always favour the buyer. There are pro-tips which you need to follow or your mileage may vary - UK sellers only, scroll down and check the supposed UK seller isn't a chinese business with a UK address, don't buy unless the feedback > 99% ...
Choice Variety
Convenience Price
Delivery speed (always check estimates before buying as I've been caught out before)
Service
Time and petrol savings Buyer protection is extensive, ebay and paypal.
Search engine with long criteria list to filter out everything of no interest. Not like Amazon which basically ignores your search terms and lists an unbelievable pile of . Incentivizes recycling/reuse rather than ending up at a landfill site Even selling to foreign buyers has been streamlined by Ebay to make the experience the same as a UK buyer (I haven't used this international shipping for a few years) A number of major retailers use Ebay for their clearance or returned or brand new items which come with standard guarantees and often free delivery.

Have to say I've had no problem with Chinese sellers either on Ebay or Amazon. I tend to get better prices on Amazon for new stuff. There's a new one just out too - name escapes me right now but seems to specialise in selling _ultra_ cheap c-r-a-p stuff.

For some years I've had a postcard in my collection showing George V's train leaving Salisbury Plain in 1915. The tones were rather dark, so earlier this month I put in a modest bid for a clearer duplicate - and won it for £3.77, an absolute bargain. Then I listed the original card - which went for £23 (roughly what a dealer at a fair might ask for it) - to the grandson of the original publisher.
The story was nearly spoilt when I put a 2p stamp on the envelope in mistake for a second-class one. I was in two minds as to whether to get a certificate of posting but was passing a post office, so popped in. Happily the clerk spotted my error.

Arrived and all ok.
had a wrong item arrive, so I emailed the seller to say so, the lens is worth £60-70 compared to the £30-40 for the correct one. Got a rude email back saying they wouldn't be giving me a refund blah blah blah blah, I'm just trying to scam them ...
err all I did was point out an issue and offer to help resolve it by posting the item on to the right person if they will give me the postage cost and address. the alternative is they pay me to return it to them and then post to the correct person. I'm basically offering to save them over £5 and given there are 2 buyers involved that's £10. You'd think they would be grateful not get snotty.
well I'm not helping them any further

LOL
2 weeks gone by and seller now emails me and says " I sent you the wrong item" I messaged back " I informed you of this 2 weeks ago" messaged me back "the buyer of the item you have wants his item, please send it to " Name/Address" Special delivery, as I've told him the item will be with him by Monday"
so I respond "As soon as you confirm that my item will be coming to me, and you send me a refund that covers the Special Delivery cost then I will post it"
the response "I'M REPORTING YOU TO EBAY AND THE POLICE FOR THEFT AND FRAUD UNLESS YOU POST THE ITEM TODAY"
Let's see how is it theft and fraud, he sent me the wrong item, his mistake, I have said I will send it once he covers the cost ( which is just over £12 ) I will post it, in my opinion neither of those constitute theft or fraud let alone theft and fraud. My honest concern is that he has proof of delivery on the item I have, so if mine never arrives I am out £25 I paid plus the £12 to send the item on, If I won an eBay case against him, which given the email trail is pretty much a certainty I would get my £25 back but i'm not sure I'd get the £12 onwards postage"
I have reported his last message to eBay for threats.

Don't understand why you got involved at all in this guy's other customers. I would just send it back and probably hit the neg button if I was able.
Offering to forward it on to another customer makes sense on a pure logical level but think how many large companies would go for that? There are all kinds of issues such as what happens if you take the special delivery postage and do nothing, do you have a right to see this guys name & address etc etc.
Online transaction a "simple" buy/sell is complicated enough due to all the permutations of things that can go wrong. I would definitely not introduce another party.
As for the threats I can't really see Ebay getting involved. The threat is to go to the police - its not a threat to harm you. I can understand why you'd be pissed off though.

I'm not an expert but have 23 years experience selling on eBay. My advice would be not to send the item to the right buyer. It's not your job to sort out the seller's problem, he shouldn't be giving out his customers details, and what happens if the items gets lost? Get onto the eBay chat and explain what's going on. Tell them you want to return the item at the seller's expense. You could open up an item not as described case, but the seller's attitude makes me think you should get things documented via the chat. If you are really lucky eBay may even give you a refund without having to return the item.

If you are really lucky eBay may even give you a refund without having to return the item. Precisely this - Ebay want nothing to do with transactions that dont fit the conditions of ther their respective buyer/seller protection programmes - having some random third party ship an item on good faith breaks both. This puts you in a pretty risk-less situation - Return at the sellers' expense. Any request they make other than facilitating that immediate return just makes ebay more likely to issue the refund unconditionally. If you dont return it (because you sent it on) they have a case to refuse a refund. - Go through the standard return process - afterwards report them: www.ebay.co.uk/help/action?topicid=4022- If they refuse the return cite all your communications with them admitting its the wrong item
