All the above are correct and just to add if you did forward it I think its quite likely the recipient would be a mate of the seller and would claim he never received it. Given the seller has already introduced the S word against you and for no justification makes it more likely in my book he would scam you.

Thanks for the advice folks, I suppose I am too helpful and wanted to assist a fellow seller, I decided over the weekend I would ring Customer services today. I got more messages over the weekend including the suggestion I should drive ( at my expense ) to Kent from South Wales to personally deliver the item and collect mine.
Phone call with eBay CS this morning,
CS have read the emails, they got me to start a return whilst on the phone and they have authorised it, bypassing the requirement for the seller to agree, and generated a label.
Parcel is now labelled and ready to go.
quote from the agent "we can't tell you what will happen, but it is likely there will be further action against the seller, If the seller contacts you please flag the messages"

I also found that the chat-human was fine on a couple of occasions, took my side (very important!) and sorted a fairly complex issue effectively. This is a statement I am very surprised to have written, because my other brushes with Ebay in the dim distant past were appalling. They hid any direct contact details and forced onto email, replies were always proforma and irrelevant and unsigned or had a dummy name attached, different one generated each time they responded. So credit where it's due.

TBH, it is a seller mistake to send the wrong item. It is a loss already.
However, everything I hear return an item rings alarm bells. Ebay doesn’t see the actual item and seller has to pay the return label. Great return policy. 🤣

keitha (or anyone) could you tell me how I can create a listing where there are options for different types of the same thing. Lots of listings have that now but struggled to find out how to do it as a seller. Lots of pages talk about creating "variations" but can't see any button to do that. After a while I gave up - maybe I'll chuck what I've got in the bin 8-(

Thanks Keith! I'll give it a go probably tomorrow.... Every other weekend for the last couple of months there's been a 80% off seller fees promotion. The next one should be next weekend. You can't use it for variations, only single item listings.
