Having suffered badly numerous times from Microsoft "Updates", one catastrophically bricking my PC, I now use this website as a guideline as to when to install Updates:- www.askwoody.com/ms-defcon-system/

Win 11 is solid for me now, but when I got it pre installed as part of a new system (as Win 11 v 22H2 around Sept last year) it was an absolute nightmare. There was a issue related to holographic shell somethingorother which it made all virtual reality applications pretty unusable via PC. Most simulators - even just PC - were also messed up. As as VR FlightSim pilot I was doubly screwed...
Fun fact: Microsoft refused to timeline a solution for this until the MS Flight Simulator community (= millions of mostly middle aged tech nerds) staged a mini revolution because it also made that unusable and was a totally unnecessary cock-up. For context MS FlightSim is Microsoft's flagship experience first launched 1982, CPU and GPU intensive even without VR, and has continuous, heavy investment. It's mind-blowing this wasn't tested for compatibility before the roll-out but it was simply "overlooked".
A couple of months later a patch was rolled out, but it was a really big problem whilst it lasted!

My 5yr old HP Omen gaming laptop, spec'd near top of the range back then, will barely run it now, even on Win 10. I get something hopeless like 7-10 FPS. The sim is just SO hungry for CPU (mostly) and GPU. So I've spent this week reviewing gaming laptops intensely and just pulled the trigger on a Lenovo Legion 9i, which should be a beast. Keeping on topic, this will be my transition from Win 10 to Win 11, so glad to hear they've nailed this doozy! I realise a desktop would be better still, but I didn't want to make SWMBO a 'computer widow' in the evenings. With a laptop, I can fly in my armchair beside her and annoy her better.

However, I have the site bookmarked and take a peek every so often.
In other words, just before I allow the updates: 11 Dec since you asked...

Now that's an exciting purchase! I'm not exactly sure when MSFS2024 is launching now...Dune 2 expansion on v2020 was due to launch simultaneously with the movie which screenwriters strike delayed to March. I think it will be better optimized than 2020 although that new toy of yours will handle both just fine. If you are looking for another option which will also look utterly amazing on that spec, you might want to consider my current timeslip of choice which is Baldur's Gate 3. Dungeons & Dragons taken to the next level in terms of maths-based tactical combat and an absolute masterpiece of graphics, music, decision making and adventuring mechanics. Also plays great on Win11! <tenuous thread link>

Has anyone successfully updated unsupported PC to Windows 11 from Windows 10?
It’s a bit of pain given the older machines do not have TPM 2.0. Considering life cycle is less than 23 months away… updating it to Windows 11 doesn’t sound too bad when the CPU supports virtualisation and capable running Android 11 under Bluestack.

Considering life cycle is less than 23 months away… updating it to Windows 11 doesn’t sound too bad when the CPU supports virtualisation and capable running Android 11 under Bluestack. I have seen various reports that claim success in doing so, and one or two reports that indicate failure.
I support various Windows computers that run Win 7 to Win 10. And one Vista machine.
I am not tempted to even try to run Windows 11 until I have to buy a new computer.
And I reckon that Windows 10 will still be running in 5-10 year's time. Microsoft will, by then, have declared it out of support, but that is the way of the world.
Luddite, me!
