Hive now getting rid of IFTTT

"IFTTT" = Internet of F'ing Troublesome Techietw*t Toys?

I fail to see the benefit of Hive/Nest etc, past the occasional "Ooh, bugger, forgot to turn the heating on/off" remote access.

The rest is just a potential security 'mare, mixed with vast potential for things going wrong, stirred gently with risk of expensive useless orphanage.

(and don't even start me on connected appliances)

I have pretty much resisted the IOT/Connected devices drive.... until the last few weeks when I installed TADO for our heating and hot water. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it all keeps going well. But not looking to go any further, and as for "Connected Fridge/Freezer/kettle/Toaster" it is utter b*****ks. With one caveat: some of these things could be useful in terms of monitoring/helping elderly at home. 

We did install Hive in my father's house as the old system controller was a mare even for us, and was a disaster for him. Being able to remotely monitor and control was a big boon. 

Many thanks. However, I'm now all TADO'd out. They are though frequently going on special offer, and I managed to pick mine up a few weeks ago at City Plumbing at less than the current screwfix offer. The CP pricing is now back to > current screwfix price/

I did get very miffed yesterday when TADO emailed me proclaiming a significant weekend promotion which on the face of it would have saved me about £60 over the price I had paid. But a few hours later, they sent a correction email with a new, lower discounted,highher price. Meaning I was still coming in cheaper and therefore smugness was fully restored :-)
