It appears we have an issue with Post.
received 2 letters today from building society
one dated 11th November saying I have an investment due to mature 28 November, and what do I want to do. Of course I've already sorted this the second letter is dated today and asks why I haven't responded to the previous letter.
The first letter is pretty battered so it may have been knocking about for a month.

I was casually casting my eye across the table this morning when I noticed a letter on the table.

the post is bloody awful. It seems to be less than 1 delivery a week. I am paying a good deal of money for The Economist, by I am typically not receiving it and then getting two in one go, with the most recent already having been superseded by one that I haven't received.

I’ve recently renewed my benefits option from the black horse bank’s club.
I have decided to get cinema coupons to watch epic movies with popcorns. Previously, I got monthly subscriptions of magazine but I am happy just borrowing publication from library.
No post. coupons and magazines loans are delivered electronically.
newspapers from worldwide are just a few flicks for reading on demand. No subscriptions thanks to our government spending. T post, G post and even the wail post.
don’t get me wrong, the good posties deserve a tip this xmas. On average, I have 200 posts delivered by Royal Mail monthly , via 3rd parties

There are a few stories on local news media about one delivery a week, and people going to the sorting office to collect their own mail. I live in the western part of a conurbation and have had no problems, but have just exchanged emails with someone on the eastern side who's experiencing delays; his wife gets the Radio Times through the post and often it arrives after several days of programmes have been broadcast.

I'm convinced our post gets saved up and then gets delivered when there's enough to make it worthwhile shoving it through the letterbox. And we don't live anywhere remote, just a village.
I heard on Radio 4 today that Royal Mail are recommending Christmas post gets posted asap, if it's to stand any chance of getting there before the 25th. So much for last posting dates.

One of my hats involves managing a monthly mailing (via RM) of about 1700 items from a third party, together with me posting about 150+ items a month.
VERY, VERY few go astray.
Of the third party items, most months zero... It's seriously to the point of almost surprise when I do hear that somebody's not received...

Meanwhile, returning an item using a free RM 48 hours service yesterday, it seems snailmail is not moving according to the stampcard.
It’s clear to me those guys working behind the scene do not bother with scanning, let’s hope the parcel gets moving at usual 48 hours delivery speed.

What surprises me (not) is people asking for non tracked delivery, that mysteriously goes astray. I have a failure rate of < 0.01% of tracked items and 10% or so of untracked items sold. Now I always use tracked. interestingly a few weeks ago I observed someone watching postie delivering across the road, I was suspicious and mentioned it to postie when he came, and he told me that they had had numerous claims of not delivered from a house across the road and the person was a manager who was observing and recording as potential evidence. I assume that Royal Mail ( or whatever they are called this week ) keep track of which properties / areas have issues with post going astray,

we got a postal delivery today. Woo hoo ! Pile of it. Amongst the treasures was a 1st class letter franked 29/11. Arrives today 12/12.
I think RM are going to go bust.
Anyone bothering with Xmas cards this year ? Or just sending out Easter cards now ?

just been to a sub-post office to return some kit to BT plus do some other bits.
Me: and can I have a book of 2nd class stamps please. Post Master: we don't have any 2nd class. Might have some in start of next week. Me (said with a smile): Ah, ok. That'll be about when my mail gets delivered then....
He couldn't stop a wry smile crossing his face before he got it back under control.

My postman is called Tony . I tip him £20.00 at Xmas and 1/2 gives him trees to bonsai. He gives us malicious gossip.

Yesterday I went into my local main post office from some second-class stamps and waited in a small queue, only to be approached by a polite young man who'd been very helpful a couple of months ago when he spotted that I'd put a 2p stamp on the envelope instead of a second-class one. He directed me to self-service and in due course six strips of paper, each bearing five stamps, emerged. To my ex-philatelist's eye they looked more like labels than stamps, but at least they had "2nd Class up to 100g" on them. Utilitarian design, if not appealing to what few stamp-collectors there still are.

just been to a sub-post office
All sub post offices in our district closed earlier this year due to failure to agree a new contract with Post Office ! Need an actual Post Office its a trip to nearest town.
We now also make a weekly trip to the Royal Mail Delivery office to collect post, when something time critical is expected.
Royal Mail signed for, tracked and parcel deliveries are now completed by random local man with a van couriers.
Letters may get delivered once a week at most.
That's the current state of decline of a once infallible universal service.

I thought RM has a brand new service bringing a label to your collection address. Has anyone tried it? It’s free for any class. www.royalmail.com/parcel-sending-optionsNo need to goto sub post office / post office right? The postman is supposed to bring the label
