Wales is often quoted by British Politician's as a country in dire trouble with the Heath Service near collapse, the Education System failing. There are also many other areas also in sever trouble.
However I was today reminded that the National Assembly has also managed to wreck air transport as well. About 30 years ago two local airports Cardiff and Bristol were given the go ahead to grow and expand and indeed they did and grew very well. At that time Cardiff was run by a private business but shortly after the advent of the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) it effectively came into Public Ownership. In the mean time Bristol continued its expansion and development plan attracting lots of commercial traffic of all types. Whereas Cardiff seemed to have atrophied. I have mentioned this publicly in Wales several time and have then been accused of being a Jeremiah, talking down the efforts of WAG in respect to Cardiff airport.
Today I was in receipt of some interesting statistics. It appears that in the next 7 days Bristol will have a total of 501 commercial aircraft departures to 31 countries where as Cardiff in the same period will have only 54 departures to 5 countries.
I rest my case.

As a Welsh resident and 20 odd miles from Cardiff as the osprey flies.
I can get to Bristol Airport nearly as quickly as I can get to Cardiff Airport
the last time we looked flights from Cardiff were on the whole more expensive as was parking
the last I heard the WG has given the airport another few million to buy the latest generation of scanners etc.
it seems to be a money pit but the WG won't admit it
and if you've ever been it's down narrow country roads with nasty bends

Back before the 20mph speed limits were introduced we used to holiday every year in Wales and always noticed how well the roads were maintained compared with where we live in England.

Cardiff Airport is one of Drakeford's crowning glories. He has haemorrhaged public money on it, while it continues to die on its ar$e. The pot has now run dry and Drakeford is scrabbling around saying he's run out of money. Of course, that is the socialist way, keep spending until you run out of other people's money... And Starmer trumpets Labour's Wales as the blueprint for the rest of the UK that we are in desperate need of. Of course, things will improve once that other genius move is in place to swell the Senedd by 60%, growing it to 96 MSs! Even at the current 60 members, it already has a much higher per constituent representation than Westminster MPs, but hey if they can waste 60% more money, what better way...

Amongst all the other silliness, I almost forgot the decision in Wales to give the vote to children.

If getting to Cardiff airport is more difficult it must be located at the end of a cul-de-sac.
PS - what happened to the Qatar airways service from Cardiff that was running before covid. I assume it didn't restart because it wasn't making money, or maybe QR still don't have enough aircraft given their spat with Airbus hasn't run its course.

Don't forget the party list only system at the next Senedd election Whilst I greatly approve of a proportional system, the closed list system is the least good of the proportional systems. Not sure what was too wrong with the old additional member system.

Not sure what was too wrong with the old additional member system. because they want to ensure equal representation so each area will have 6 AMs and each are will have 3 male and 3 female reps because of the way it will be zippered say the first is Labour and a male candidate is top of labours list he is in then the tories get the next seat the tope female on their list gets in

A declining Wales now is where England will be under the forthcoming Labour regime. Vive socialism!
