Just off the phone to a friend
She's just turned 66 and has been on benefits for 9 moths since her last employer went out of business
On Thursday she received a UC UC payment but it was for 18 days not a full month, so she's contacted the DWP and they say this is correct as her entitlement to UC stops when she turned 65. She's phoned the pensions people and her first payment is due in 3 weeks so she has 18 days money to last over 5 weeks is this normal ?
she also asked why they didn't say anything when she went for her fortnightly DWP session the day after her birthday, surely they should have signed her off not told her that her next appointment was tomorrow.

It is normal when entering retirement from most benefits. The date of payment of the first pension is governed by ones NI number I believe. Some benefits do run on into retirement, PIP, for instance.
