Am I reading this correctly? I commented yesterday that I'm gobsmacked that the 60 standing charge is 60p a day.... from what I am reading this is INCREASING to 64p a day. Please tell me I'm wrong.

It's going up across the UK, but to how much depends on where you are. Highest is Northern, non-DD... 77.5p/day. Lowest is London, DD... 40.8p/day

Nothing to do with profits. This green washing is a farce. People are starting to see through it. Tesla reporting sales flattening off, no incentive to reduce consumption. I've not done the figures but any small k/wh reduction is surely offset by increased SC.

Unfortunately that 6p is heavily influenced by London and the north West. My standing charge goes up by 9P. my unit rate down by 4.2p so just over 2kWh a day for me to break even.

Also, a proportion of the increase is to "level up" the unfair disparity between Direct Debit payers with a good history getting charged less than pre-payment users (with, stereotypically, a BAD history) being charged more.
This is "unfair" and has been fixed up by adding 10 quid to all the DD people's bill to make it fair.
Obviously, taking 10 quid off the pre-payment bills is equally fair, but penalises the poor, struggling, energy companies ...

Don't forget the £18 being added to everyones bill to pay the bills of those that either can't or won't pay.

Just shy of 1%. an average of 1% unfortunately I'm amongst those harder hit , 5% of my electricity bill... and I can think of elderly people I know who run at around 3kWh usage a day, and are restricting gas use so for many of them 2-3% on the bill, it feels unfair that people who have struggled and continue to struggle are expected to pay to support those who can't or won't pay .

I agree. Why can't the energy companies manage debtors like any other business? I've a guy at work who is 3 years behind on council tax and feels its more important to eat takeaways than pay his bills. Playing the mental health card to say he can't cope with life.

Playing the mental health card to say he can't cope with life.Have a friend in a similar position, last winter with the Government support he cut his payments to £10 a month, he's over £1000 in debt on gas and electric, £500 on water, complains he can't manage on his and his wifes wages. yet he eats out every Sunday, and since Christmas has bought himself and his wife new Iphones. He insists the Government should have "given poor people like me £400 this winter". He also insists the system is unfair in that I will get a decent state pension as well as my contributory pension, he can't see that working abroad for years, and then not paying NI for 5-6 years more recently is the issue ie I've put in for more than twice as many years as him. He sees it as unfair that I get a state pension and a company pension and that those with a works pension should get a lower or £0 state pension he's had the cost of living payments one of which went on a weekend away. I spoke to him this morning and said myself and my partner has been away for the weekend to celebrate my birthday "Alright for some with plenty of money" After Tax my pension is £1800 a month, plus a small amount I make on eBay, not exactly a fortune. like quite a lot of people and I include some of my own family in this, he lives for today and never looks at the future, I could name at least a dozen people I know who chose to opt out of company pensions. the "mental health card" makes you a vulnerable person, and stops bailiffs even for council tax etc
