Why is nothing easy these days

My fitbit decided this afternoon that it needed a software update

Without the update it won't sync

so I tell it to update, and it won't update until the battery is full

So I charge the battery and it still won't sync or update

so I Google possibilities

Suggestion 1

Turn Bluetooth off on phone for 2 minutes and try again
Nope

Suggestion 2

Force close the fitbit app, then repeat suggestion 1

Suggestion 3

Reboot the phone, then repeat suggestion 2

Suggestion 4

Force close the fitbit app
clear cache
repeat suggestion 3

and this time it worked, but then the update spent over 5 minutes finding and connecting to the fitbit and another 1/2 hour updating it
