After reading this, I would GUESS that they somehow had gained access to the account (that would be in line that they knew his past account trasnactions). They then found the accountant's name by looking at past transactions (payment to accountant). All they still needed was authorisation (verification) to initate transaction which they tricked him into giving.

May be my Revolut account is broken. I have just set up a new payee but Revolut didn't send any authenication code.
I also notice I receive email every time I make bank transfer, including the test bank transfer I made 4 minutes ago. Mind you, I have never go big on Revolut and have never sent €€€€€.

I used Revolut for day to day spend when abroad. I now use Starling Bank and find them excellent. They are also a proper bank.

You don't pay a fee for using it outside UK banking hours. You effectively pay a fee for converting between currencies during weekends. So you just need to remember to convert to your currency of choice during the week to avoid the fee.

😅 I suppose bank like HSBC doesn’t mind starting a non-bank project like Zing. Zing debit card allows one fee free withdrawal every month, limit is £500 equivalent.
As a founding member, it’s 20 free cash withdrawal per annum.
Anyway, I didn’t use Zing for my trip 10 days ago. Just Chase for contactless payment (1% cashback) and Starling for making cash withdrawal.

😐 Revolut virtual card fails badly when linked with the “loading” debit card. Revolut automatically freezes my Eur contactless transaction when linked with “other” card Sorry to hear that you're having problems. I used my Revolut card for loads of euro transactions in Cyprus a few weeks ago. It worked flawlessly, including contactless via Google pay. I could easily and instantly transfer sterling from my UK bank account, and instantly convert to euros in the app at excellent rates with no fee during weekdays. I used it for hiring a car, including the deposit, and instantly received a refund of the deposit when the car was returned.

It could be the Curve problem in Belgium. I intended to use Curve to go back in time with Chase, paid via Revolut with loading card then go back in time with Chase in May for earning cashback. My Chase 1% cashback used up in april
Edit: Revolut works with Curve after confirming declined payment.
Update: Go Back In Time works. The transactions paid with Revolut has been transferred to Chase in May, I need to set Chase to Eur before GBIT.
