Does anyone actually trust the US in this
the promise is apparently in exchange for pleading guilty to 1 charge he will be sentenced to less time than he's been in Belmarsh and will walk free from court.
I'd not put it past the US to impose a massively higher tariff, or to snatch him from the court
I would add I find the statement from Mike Pence hysterical. Both Trump and Biden have had classified documents at "home"

Both Trump and Biden have had classified documents at "home" Care to consider the relative quantities and timings? But, yes, it's a good example to consider. Trump: charged with storing 32 documents under the espionage act after his right to retain them expired, max 20yr in prison. They were stored insecurely, and are believed to have been actively hidden from lawyers. There are allegations that information contained within them was disclosed to unauthorised individuals for personal gain. Assange: charged with unauthorised access to government computer systems (5yr max), charged with 17 offences under espionage act for illegally accessing and disclosing classified documents (170yr max) to all and sundry on the internet. Was also charged with rape (charges dropped due to time expired diluting witness evidence, also sexual assault but those charges exceeded statute of limitations) and went into hiding to avoid extradition - breaking bail to do so. So, yeh, I'd say this is a VERY satisfactory outcome for Assange.

He will be paying for the private jet back. 385k, as used by Taylor swift apparently. Funny old world. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear he has been kidnapped by US for trial.

The leak’s founder got lucky without a doubt, Snowden probably won’t get the same treatment

When it was confirmed that he would plead guilty to one charge in an american court I couldn't work out why he boarded a flight to Bangkok (strange way to get to the USA from London). However, the court in question was in Northern Mariana Islands, a US territory in the Pacific ocean.
One way business class flights back to Sydney from Saipan International airport start at about £5k.
