So like many, I get lots of junk mail. Not just from spammers, but also unnecessary junk from institutions I'm linked to so I only look at those I deem important (and the subject is key in this).
Today I logged into my Newcastle B/S account and noticed that the rate on my Isa had dropped. Funny I thought, I don't remember getting an email about that. I searched through my emails and found an email dated 23/8 with a subject title of
"Make sure your savings account is right for you". I don't read these type of emails as they are normally promoting products I'm not interested in or already know about. Anyway, this one wasn't. It was a notification of forthcoming rate changes. Why oh why was that not the title then? That would've made me read it.
I then found an email from TomTom titled "Important information about your device". I better read this I thought. Arghhhhhh!!!! It was trying to sell me an upgrade.

😅 I have problem reading emails as well, including SMS. The SPAM filter makes things worse. I have no idea how spam filter detect junk mail and I think they assume certain % of email must be spam and cannot allow 0 spam.
I like titles like: Please reply, Action required, Open PDF to read the newsletter, urgent, only read if you have spare time, it’s okay to ignore, please reply before this deadline , this is spyware, your online activity has been tracked

The SPAM filter makes things worse. I have no idea how spam filter detect junk mail You're meant to train them to your corpus of mail, by flagging false positives (stuff that's real but it binned) and false negatives (spam it missed).

Well, if it could be trained the time spent on reading the email read, rather transferring unread email directly to Spam. There should be a button like,” next email please, but this is not a spam” Also, another button could be helpful, “recycle”, the email needs to be deleted in the system because my account is running of the space., not because deleting it as it has spam material. Surely AI like ChatGPT can detect the content of the email whether it is spam or not. Also, just because it is Spam to majority and it doesn’t mean it’s a spam to me. The filter should be personalised.
