went to Thessaloniki for a few days.
Surprised at the level of graffiti even on ancient buildings ( spray paint not ancient )
very little in the way of solar panels or even solar water heating visible.
Found the university of Sunderland building
went on a guided tour of some ancient sites and the guide mentioned that some ancient marbles from Thessaloniki are in the Louvre in Paris, after the tour I was talking to her and asked about the marbles, her view was that as the Turkish( at the time ) Governor sold the marbles they belong to France whereas the Elgin Marbles were sold by the landowner, and thus should be given back.
coming back woman next to me had 2 phones that she constantly switched between for calls and didn't terminate the last call until after take off!
As soon as the pilot said we were descending into London both phones out looking for a signal
English "gentleman" started a queue even before gate called us and got very angry that we didn't start embarking on time "we are late this is unacceptable", after less than 5 minutes.
get into Heathrow, Asian chap in toilet brushing his teeth whilst having a pee, then when finished crossed over to the sink and collected water using the hand that didn't hold the toothbrush that he then used to rinse his mouth out with.
as we are going through nothing to declare channel a Sikh chap was pulled over and I heard the officer say "the reason we've stopped you is we have information you are carrying a huge amount of cash"
finally somewhere betwixt Paddington and home I "lost" a folder from inside my bag with £200 and a bank card
but it was a mostly good trip
