Foreign IT outsourcing was an unmitigated disaster for the UK but utility outsourcing has reached new depths
I can't decide if their online TOBI support or human support is worse.
I was helping someone who was ill and their vodafone FTTP broadband was broken as well, turned up saw the service and broadband light is off on the fibre modem on the wall, power cycle, still the same, case closed, get onto vodafone to send someone out. The usual struggle through the AI chat swamp to find a human followed by his endless stream of pointless questions. I went out to the shops, came back 30 minutes later and the SHE WAS STILL on the chat getting bombarded with unintelligible questions and language. He was lucky he wasn't in the same room. As soon as I took over telling him what was wrong and a few home truths he raised a call with 2nd line support. He was still banging on about ethernet cables after that, hilarous, not. And even after all that he instructs you to email some 3rd party with all the information he has just received over the prior 30 minutes including photographs. You couldn't make it up. A support call which should have taken minutes, the service light is off and it's been recycled, there is nothing you or me can do to fix this, jump to step 50 on your sheet, hello. One problem might be 1st line support are writing these troubleshooting cheat sheets instead of 2nd/3rd line support.
We're all being gaslit while these companies rake in the profits and fill up their pension pots.
