I have tried to help a couple of pensioners over the last 2 working days to claim the pension credit that the governments calculator states they are entitled to.
Neither have access to an online claim form so the pension credit claims line number was supplied to both. They had missing data or I could have done the online claim for them.
Both of them have tried the claim line 4 times Friday and 3-4 times today. They go through all the options to speak to someone and immediately get cut off before the line rings.
It could be a resource issue but the government knew the need for the line would increase when they made PC the main way for pensioners to get the winter fuel payment.
Apart from making the less than fully mobile pensioners travel 15 miles to the office has anyone got any links in to the government department other than via local MPs?
The cynic in me might say it's part of the grand plan on population control where the state chokes off funding to the vulnerable who then expire due to the cold....
