On the coming up section a luxury watch with a asset value of £73k - is this a misprint somewhere or do some watches have this sort of value, I don't think mine has. Wondered if it could be another yacht and someone has doggy typing fingers

Wondered if it could be another yacht and someone has doggy typing fingers Apparently they do. Some of these are bonkers. Like the one that plays all of Big Ben chimes, though presumably at a lower volume. www.watchtime.com/blog/million-dollar-watches/EDIT:And those are apparently cheap THE PATEK CALIBER 89 - $5,120,000 Buying this watch would require selling 3.5 Bugatti Veyrons, which happens to be 70% of the total number they sold in 2005. The closest most of us will ever get to a Veyron is drooling over it on Top Gear. It’s all about perspective here people. Three Veyrons. Say it out loud – Three. Veyrons. So what makes this watch worth $5.12mil? For starters, it is the most complicated watch on the planet with 33 complications. Essentially, it requires a degree in mechanical engineering to understand, but suffice it to say it has everything but the kitchen sink. It also took more time to design than you spent in college (including those extra years “studying” chemistry). And not a diamond in sight

Mine doesn't either -- it cost less than a tenner. I suppose it all depends on how many diamonds there are on the band, etc. I suspect, however, that lenders need to hope the borrower really, really, wants to have it back, because if it needs to be sold I'd think the pool of potential buyers is rather small. paulgul: How did you determine the £73k asset was a watch? All I see is 'Jewellery', which I would have thought would be more likely to be a collection of pieces rather than a single, very expensive, one.

I recall seeing a very polite man on a beach in Tenerife selling £5000+ Rolex and Patek Philippe watches for around £50. He gave me his word that they weren't fake so one can only assume that he must have been getting them wholesale
