PM doesn't work (by design, one assumes). The PM facility was disabled when the precursor to this forum was taken over and frozen by FC - they didn't like the fact I was using their official forum PM's to help co-ordinate the launch of this forum !

That's a ditto: I banged a link in to the 'other forum', had it moderated out, someone asked for a PM, and before you knew it they had terminated PM'ing. Didn't realise they had left it switched off ever since.
I remember the dialogue with (Jon ?) well. It went something like: "We wish you well with the new forum but can't allow you to post a link". To which my response was along the lines of "thanks, but you clearly don't wish it that well".
Eventually the link get fed in by someone splitting it into about four component parts, by which time I think Jon had decided there were too many leaks in the dyke for him to keep plugging.

The PM facility is supposedly still there but only available, IIRC, as a status reward for forum users in the 'Silver' category and above. As there are only 1 or 2 contributors in that position it is as good as dead.

I don't think there is any mechanism to reach silver or gold contributor these days (last time I looked I was #1 or #2 poster there, and I hadn't achieved the dizzy heights of being able to PM the admin/moderators when there was an obvious issue). I think that mechanism went away along with most of the rest of the facilities when they completely changed their forum software (which iirc was some time after they canned the old indie forum) 8<.
Which reminds me .. iirc there was no weekly lending review last week, and this week's had a new and unknown name at the bottom .. I wonder if the team grew, or if B or N have given up and wandered off .. anyone know??
Update .. I see in the other place announcement of new forum software (by Becky .. the announcement that is, not the software), so maybe they are listening, or perhaps they are as frustrated with the current offering as the users are.
