Here's one sent to me by a much-loved aunt when I was young enough to burn the candle at both ends, day after day....
My Get-up and Go Has Got-up and Went.
Old age is golden, or so I've heard said, but sometimes I wonder, as I crawl into bed, With my ears in a drawer, and my teeth in a cup, my eyes on the table until I wake up. As sleep dims my vision, I say to myself: is there anything else I should lay on the shelf? But, though nations are warring, and Congress is vexed, we'll still stick around to see what happens next!
How do I know my youth is all spent? My getup and go has got-up and went! But, in spite of it all, I'm able to grin, And think of the places my get-up has been!
When I was young, my slippers were red; I could kick up my heels right over my head. When I was older my slippers were blue, but still I could dance the whole night through. Now I am older, my slippers are black, I huff to the store and puff my way back. But never you laugh; I don't mind at all: I'd rather be huffing than not puff at all!
Chorus
I get up each morning and dust off my wits, open the paper and read the obits. If I'm not in there, I know I'm not dead, so I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed!
Chorus
Anon. Pete Seeger sang these lyrics in concert and later gave credit to a newspaper man who wished to remain anonymous but there are several different versions circulating.

Because it's that time of year.
Spring in my Garden... As I looked out through my window pane... I heard the chattering of rain... Tumbling and bouncing as it hit the ground ... Forming puddles all around...
The moisture formed this weird catalyst... That turned my garden... Into pure bliss...
As water percolated down... Nourishing roots that were underground... It banished the grass all brown and worn... Transforming it to a perfect green lawn...
The sun was shining making a show... 'Twas helping make my garden grow... It turned the shrubs into full leaf... Awoken the buds from their deep winter's sleep...
The mist rose slowly in the still morning air... These little round droplets did lay everywhere... Forming beads of dew that sparkled so bright... This curios wet stuff is the giver of life...
The birds all busy building their nests... The bees buzzing round with no time to rest... This time of the year all sunshine and showers... The light in the sky with its magical powers...
Its the start of many a good month to come... Its the start of this season...
For Spring has now Sprung...
