President of Estonia is a US pawn, he says what he is told to say. Estonians themselves don't respect him, he is nicknamed Penguin in Estonia. I have lived in Estonia all my life, I know. And press also tells what it is told to say. This is exactly what US wanted to get after Ukrainian crisis and now the go on with their plan as if having an excuse to put misiles on the land of my motherland(Estonia). Where all my family lives. <snipped by mod>

Mod hat tied firmly under chin.
Please return to the original point of this thread.
This forum is not primarily for discussion of politics and this subject in particular is always going to generate more heat than light.
Be nice to each other!

I can tell you then that practically every platform on this board will take you except for FC; you will need the UK bank account (which might not be that easy to get, there's plenty of Brits living overseas who struggle to open one, try Yorkshire Bank), and a reasonably verifiable identity history going back some years. Best of luck.

zakaz if you find a UK bank that will let you open an account, please pass on the information. I still have the account from when I left but haven't seen one open to non residents.
An enterprising British platform should arrange to allow transfers from Currencyfair or the Estonian based Transferwise, as do other European sites for British residents.

Are accounts based in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man not good enough? I would have thought that those would be relatively easy for people living in other EU countries to open since that's what used to be one reason 'offshore' banking existed.

Neither Channel Islands nor the Isle of Man are part of the United Kingdom. (Trust me. I used to index world atlases )

I work in an international company that transfers finances, has offices and partners worldwide, and has licenses from Ministries of Finance of several contries, including Britain. That is why I tell you that it is not a problem for me. Doesn't mean that my ways could be useful to everyone.
I am pretty sure that if there is a need, anything is possible. Going to Britain to open an bank account is not too much trouble. I am pretty sure there are institutions that help with such problems, maybe something like discused here: www.workgateways.com/working-in-the-uk/banking-faq or something similar

I am not a UK resident, and have been investing with number of UK based platforms for sometime. Also recently opened a UK bank account without having to travel to UK.
Not all UK platforms accepts non-residents but many do.

At some point, possibly soon, P2P platforms are going to start withholding basic rate tax. Overseas people might want to watch out for that.

Personal income tax cannot be withheld by GB p2p lenders, unless the investor is a GB resident since this is against EU law. A person pays all taxes(excluding private property rent income tax) in the country of current residency. And being a Maltese resident I don't pay taxes gained outside Malta, so I never suffer any taxes. I already used this loophole in the EU laws for my salary in Estonia, neither Estonia nor Malta can take taxes from that salary. The funny thing is that for using this loophole I also got a discount from property tax in Estonia. It is very usefull to read laws.
