Thought I'd give you all an early heads up that we're planning some scheduled maintenance next week, currently targeting Tuesday morning 9:30 to 10:30. We're making some changes to our hosting environment which includes migrating to new database servers, making some connectivity changes, increasing our monitoring coverage with additional checks, and changing the way we configure, manage and cluster our web servers to allow for much quicker and easier dynamic scaling down the road.
Much of this is overkill for now but is aimed at streamlining our technical operations and future proofing the site. We have a couple features planned for the next few months that will be resource intensive, thus it's best to make the architectural changes now in preparation, and as with all platforms in this space we have ambitious growth targets.
We're targeting Tuesday but if our testing over the next few days finds any obscure issues then we may push this back by a day or two. I'll keep you posted.

Just to keep you informed, we've decided to split the changes into two batches to give us more time. There will be a brief outage tomorrow morning between 9:30 and 10:30, which shouldn't last for more than 15 minutes or so, whilst we swap over to a new more powerful database infrastructure. The changes to the way the web servers cluster will require an extra couple of days of testing and will be set live at a later date, however that shouldn't require any downtime to enact.
I'll post here after the database changes are live and again after we make the changes to the web servers. Other than the brief outage you shouldn't notice any differences. If you do spot any issues that we have missed then please do let me know, either on this thread or by private message.

All back up and running, upgrade went nice and smoothly. So we're now running on a new database infrastructure with much more capacity and a few security tweaks thrown into the mix to better segregate the DB server from the rest of the world. Let me know via this thread or personal message if you come across any issues but all should be fine.
