The article may or may not prove to be right but could it also be black propaganda being spread by vested interests in traditional financial circles that see established practices such as screwing customers and fixing rates the status quo under threat?

I think equity valuations pf p2p businesses are very bubbly and I would not touch with a bargepole. Not so worried about lending, at the moment. But I am trying not to concentrate my lending in property, which is also bubbly IMO.

Just listened to it on Bloomberg. Two points came over, 1) the moans from the banks about unfair competition is probably just that and 2) property bubble certainly an issue.
On a different issue there seems to be a conflicting message on Chinese investment in non-chinese property, this seems to be calmning down in New Zealand but increasing in London and Sweden. All a bit bubbly for me, so I'll be restricting property expansion.

I don't think P2P lending is the issue, although it is risky if you don't spread yourself adequately. I think the problem is that according to new figures hedge funds are taking up 80% of the investment on the platforms. In an volatile environment they will be the first to switch their investment strategy and move into other products for diversification. If we continue to see the volatility shown over the past couple of months all over the globe, the increase of interest rates in the UK could be the reason they decide to move money into different areas which negates this increase. The only similar investment platform that I know of, which hedges this increase is WiseAlpha.
The real question is, if the hedge funds do move there money will the current well known leading platforms be able to continue to grow?
