Tell us something that other people don't know about you! (Claim to fame etc).
Me - I am a cox for a rowing crew (yes - I've heard all of the jokes!). When I am not shouting at developers, I am shouting at lycra-clad ladies to inspire them!

The first thing that I was ever taught about trading ABS was "Always buy bonds backed by high end motorbike loans rather than mortgage-backed or car loans if you have a choice. A motorbike owner will sell his car and default on his mortgage if it means that he can still afford to keep his motorbike. "

I often played gigs with John Entwhistle of The Who. He played french horn, I played bassoon. Yes, we were in the same school orchestra. andy: nothing wrong with being a cox. I used to row facing one and stroking....

It's never too late to un-retire from rowing uncletone ... I had a 15 year break. (And am now desperately starving myself to get down to weight for Women's Henley).

One (hard as nails) lady in my current club has the 1k world record for single sculls for over 70s. It's NEVER too late!

As there is a motorbike theme here, my second most random fact is that aged 11 on a motorbike I overtook the GP World champion (retired) Mike Hailwood going into the Druids hairpin at Brands Hatch circuit. If you think that was impressive my most random fact is that on the very next corner (Graham Hill Bend) I also slid up the inside and made a perfect manoeuvre passing 3 more riders on the inside of the bend. The 3 riders? None other than Jon Pertwee, Doctor Who and Worzel Gummidge. ablrateandy, Do I win an umbrella?

To be honest it looks like we should be doing Ablrate-branded crash helmets!

By coincidence I too was a cox in my youth. My last event was as cox of the Loughborough college eight for the 1957 head of the Thames race over the boat race course. My every day transport then was an Aston Martin which I later discovered had been driven in the 1922 French Grand Prix by Count Zborowski. Unfortunately I had sold it for £125 many years before I found out what it was. It is shown in the photo here: astonmartins.com/car/bamford-and-martin-twin-cam-16-valve/

To be honest it looks like we should be doing Ablrate-branded crash helmets! It wouldn't engender much confidence in your ATR loans!!

Well I am currently 43 and I can't ride a motorbike.
When I was 19 my friend let me use his Honda C50 to go home and pick some stuff up. It was pretty late and I had to go past a police station (twice). Both times there were two policemen sitting in their car waiting to catch people. They were watching me struggle with the gears on this beast (lol!) as I jerked about on it like some nut job as I went around the roundabout.
They never pulled me over as on both occasions they were too busy wetting themselves laughing.
Not really a claim to fame but hey ;-)

I can be often found in the local park at 2am wearing dark clothes and a balaclava along with like minded people. Well, I wouldn't want to be out in public at that time with all this expensive kit on my own. John

Agh. longjohn. My wife keeps stopping me getting into this hobby! I'm restricted to time lapse photos of the ISS!
