Spent the last 2 days trying to work out why I couldn't post anything on the old independent FC forum.
Went via the official forum and the Zopa forum to get here. Sorry if I'm late.

No you aren't. I found this by accident through ZOPA's forum. How about mentioning it on the Assetz website? Thanks to Andrew for taking the initiative and to Elljay for volunteering to take over - can't wait for the coloured graphs to begin to emerge . just how onerous is the moderators job?

can't wait for the coloured graphs to begin to emerge . Graphs R Us just how onerous is the moderators job? Shouldn't be too onerous - watch for any spam that's gets through; keep the place tidy and discuss any issues with the other mods.

But do you have to sit with your eye balls glued to the screen? What about toilet breaks? how long is a shift? As you can tell I have no experience of this sort of thing.

No shifts - just read the forum as you normally would, but if you spot anything that breaks the rules or a post that should be moved to another area, or a spammer that's got through the defences etc, you have the ability to do something about it.

Hm, I might need a training course on spotting spam, surely not all those too good to be true offers are too good to be true are they? Well consider this my job application, I promise to wield power wisely and minimally.

Hm, I might need a training course on spotting spam, surely not all those too good to be true offers are too good to be true are they? Well consider this my job application, I promise to wield power wisely and minimally. When you are faced with something that may be spam, the fewer the previous posts made by that poster the more likely it is to be spam / scam. The previous board has dealt with two such cases of first post spam this year - each time neutering the message by deleting the url but leaving the thread live to provide hours of entertainment ! (I refer to the dentist who wanted us to send him £1 million so he expand his practise from Liverpool to Heathrow, and the chap who had two bites at the cherry first suggesting we give him control of our FC accounts so he could manage them on our behalf and send £20 pm to his own bank account; then coming up with a "fund" whereby we sent him money and he would invest in FC on our behalf !) Of course any post offering to grow parts of your anatomy instead of your money can be deleted without further thought ! Borderline cases can be discussed between moderators on the dedicated moderators board before action is taken. As far as I am aware I have done the only moderation task required so far - amending a post title at the request of the poster.
