chris andrewholgateNice newsletter. However can I suggest that someone actually checks out the Article links before releasing ? The first two I clicked on (Sale Sharks and P2P Lending continues.....) have the marvelous body content of 'Test' and 'X' respectively. Not sure whether the latter was intended to represent a character or a peck on the cheek courtesy of AC...

Actual article doesnt actually say anything either, just talks about an evening with Bill Beaumont in association with AC. Cant see any reference to being sponsors, nothing on site listing partners once I rummaged.

Sometimes we’re here just to rap someone over the knuckles it would seem. AC’s new July newsletter has just been sent out, & frankly (sorry) for the high standards one expects from AC it was pretty poor. Some examples: 1. AC / Sale Sharks partnership – anyone understand what exactly the partnership’s about??? Sounded like a fun evening (for rugby fans) but no clue what the tie-up is… If it ain’t relevant (to lenders) why mention it, if it is could someone not care to mention why? Good to hear everyone seems to have a soft spot for Josh btw, sounds like a lovely guy. (Whispers aside - who the hell is Josh??) 2. 28th May – Stuart Law interview – text spattered with [incomprehensible stuff in square brackets]. Presumably logos/pictures? An interview with the top boss deserves better. 3. FP (a smashing new facility yes) but do we really have to be told AC hope we “enjoy” it, rather than erm, find it useful? It’s almost put me off making FP transfers for the fun of it jeez. What’s the needles on the pic to the left all about? 4. Incomplete titles / poor spacing / truncated text / weird choice of font size, news source logo too small / humongously large View the Article buttons etc on the 6 “In the press” links. Irritating to have to open them to find what they’re about, how many links does the average mortal have already to click on a day? 5. Ditto (spacing etc) on the Summer Budget article. Substance waffly & sometimes plain difficult to follow, no quick bullet point explanation, an opportunity missed (on something you’d guess many lenders would like a simple quick roundup). The Free Advice for 50+ year olds is interesting. Shame it doesn’t tell you where you can get it / how AC are planning to help/be relevant on this. Most P2P platforms I think have good marketing spiel. Simple things said in simple ways that anyone can understand, pics that make sense & in the right place, quick snapshots on important big things (budgets & consultations), ideally the week after they happen not a moon or two later.. AC is a good (& often excellent) outfit with a winning formula that sometimes has a wonky shop window. Kinda daft on an ever busier shopping street.. andrewholgate I think it’s been a while since you last got those boots on, as (generally) a laid back pacifist type of chap don’t think you need to go the cupboard now but perhaps a wee word with the marketing team..

Regardless of my original post - which was intended as a constructive pointer rather than a moan - I do think one should bear in mind that AC remains a relatively small outfit in terms of money lent and revenues etc. and its unreasonable to expect its marketing arm to punch at the same weight as e.g. FC. I for one am more interested in AC focussing its staffing on loan sourcing, monitoring, recovery etc. Newsletters to existing lenders are a nice to have.
Nonetheless, if you are doing something make it as tidy as possible and scale back what you do not how you do it.

Fully with you bracknellboy. Worth noting though that assuming AC’s NL goes out to all registered lenders that’s 10.000 folk, most of whom won’t have actually lent anything/much yet on the platform. As the hottest leads the platform has to scale on the comms with them has to be if not top-notch at least not off-putting / perplexing. I believe AC has an external marketing/PR partner, could be the reason why an occasional duff comm slips out.

Ooh, harsh even by my standards I'd have thought I agree absolutely that AC sometimes have a pretty wonky shop window, and it annoys me when it happens, but this NL didn't get me THAT riled. (Following list bulleted so as to stay on your good side - can't find a 'scared of jjc' smiley!) - I simply don't see many of the issues others have had in this thread, so perhaps it depends on what it's being viewed on? I get all the links going where they should go, I get pictures and not incomprehensible stuff in square brackets
- I don't find fibre-optic cable (needle) pictures either offensive or particularly inappropriate for an FP article
- Links to the articles don't seem excessive to me - I do agree a smaller pic, button and text leaving room to put a longer sentence summarising what the article was about would be better, but I certainly don't want it all in the email as I'm probably not interested in all of it
- spacing etc isn't that bad for me in the articles - could be better though, agreed
- I do agree that the budget article was rather waffly and could certainly have been snappier, but I'm not sure we can blame AC for not giving detail on the 50+ advice because it's most likely the budget didn't spell that out either - I may be wrong, but my impression is they are just passing on what his Osbornship announced, the detail for which never seems to come for months on end
I guess overall, for me, it wasn't as slick as it surely could have been, but wouldn't have put me off lending if I wasn't already doing and just didn't seem particularly bad. Perhaps it just wasn't full of spelling errors this time and that's made me grateful for small mercies and overly/uncharacteristically mellow

Wan’t really that riled ramblin rose. Some of it tongue in cheek but basically jus’ giving hopefully useful feedback (details there to explain what I found improveable rather than a spouting of bile). Sounds like some of the probs were tech/device related. Thanks for the bullets! & now I know what a fibre-optic cable looks like I think I can (almost) make the connection. Bit copper cable here sometimes

Was it only me but my first reaction when I saw a tie up with Sale Sharks was WHAT !!!!!! Why has AC tied itself to some selling shark which even has the nerve to call itself a shark. As I read on I gradually realised it was something different but didn't know quite what. I think in the end it clicked that it was something to do with rugby but could not for the life of me see what it had to do with me or AC. I assume its a sponsorship deal but I had lost all interest before I got to the end.
